I guess I'll give my copper aswell.
I personally don't like the idea of breaking the forums up into different themes. It seems to bring chaos to order. The new look was great aswell as the new logo, I see no reason to change each section.
@DS, what do you mean the frontpage is too narrow? It's the same width as the forums (left margin included). I guess it depends on what resolution you have your desktop set at, but mine's at 1280x1024 and everything looks fine.
There has to be a happy medium. If you're running your destop at 2048x1536 that might be why you can't read anything.
In short, I liked the way the new style was. I personally don't like having each section in a different theme (especially the new Lockdown theme, it's far too dark), it's more confusing then aesthetically pleasing.
Just my $0.023 (current exchange rate).

So we could have 8 themes for 8 games and 8 headers. And even more so a roatating picture for one theme i.e. two headers rotating on page views , just incase we get more artists to step up to the plate. P.S. Jecks, what size does the header have to be? 268 x 122? |

I think Mofo and J are onto something great here.
A different logo (same font, game-related background) and different colours/tones would make the fans o the different games feel more at home.
I also like the "narrow" frontpage (@1280x1024). I feel like I'm getting a much better overview. And it helps you keep on the right line when reading posts by punctuation-illiterates.
Just keep all themes the same width.

I agree with Fixxx, it is really distracting and chaotic looking now that some of the forums have their own layouts. Changing the fonts, colors, layouts -- basically everything in each forum isn't a good idea IMHO. It's going to confuse the hell out of new members, and it makes the site look sloppy (again IMHO). There are some things that should definitely remain constant from page to page (forum layout & fonts to name two) I just really think we need a uniform theme to tie the whole site together, and then maybe small custom elements to add "flavor" to each page. Maybe have a customized logo/header for each section, maybe even a custom color scheme (with same overall color layout -- basically just shift the hue of the palette as a whole, not the color assignments). Just my 2 cents, ~Mike |

I am leanign the same way towards this as I suggested earlier, a drop down box with a set of themes related to games in general, like a template for the overall site but set for the game of the users choice. That way it can be more surrounding the users and his/her preferenced environment. At this moment the only site I know of that has this option is www.AAOtracker.com, If you look at the lower right hand side it has a drop down that has different selection per user preference, it has many different ones to choose from but the fact we are directing ours more towards games is what makes it so cool. |
