News Sections

Why are the upper news sections locked, yet I see posts in there often? Are there only certain topics that are off limits, or is that a section that only mods and "authorized" people can post in? I'm just curious because I've read several news posts that I wanted to comment on but didn't think I'd be able or allowed to. Do these posts originate in the submitted news section and get moved? Fill me in, I'd like to know where I can step without squashing toes or angering anyone at the party.

trust us, if you step on toes you'll know it.

the news sections up top are filled with threads that yes originate in the "News Submissions" forum then are moved to the appropriate news forum if we see fit. the posts in those forums feed our front page at ThePlatoon.com and Graw.ThePlatoon.com. anyone but banned members can post threads in the news submission forum but can NOT start a thread in any of the other news forums. it's a crude way for us to control the news posts on the front page but not take away the credit of the poster.

so yes you can post in the news submission forum as long as it's news you think would fit on our front page.

just tested and you can reply to threads in all the news forums. if not be specific and i'll look more into it.
