I'm not sure exactly how to explain this, but I run a widescreen monitor, as more and more people do. If you look at http://www.theplatoon.com/ maximized, the sections (Gaming News, General News, and so on down the list) have a HUGE amount of room, and most of it is dead space. However, the "Last Post" section has a very finite amount of room and often you get threads that have "..." because they ran out of room. A simple mouse-over reveals the thread.

However, I was wondering if it was possible to use some of that dead space for the descriptions. It would require some reformatting of the page, but it might read more pleasing that way. If this is something that's a big pain in the ass, it's not a big deal, but I thought I'd suggest it.

im not dissliking the way theplatton is at all, but i do miss the whole front page news thing a bit. if i want to read theplatton news i have to look in that section, there should(well not should, but would be nice rather) be a tiny bit of full post front page news - mabe 3 or so (like you would see on the old front page of theplatton.  i dont know if this would be possible, mabe using frames or some sort of things like that?  i guess this is the wrong section, but i didnt want to create a new thread Tongue and i didnt find it importaint enough for a new thread, just something to tinker with on your end if ya like it.

that better?

@Mindless: we had a front page for quite some time and it rarely got visited. we're a forum now and will stay that way for a while. however, i do appreciate any feedback we get and EVERY suggestion, complaint, critique and the occasional compliment is taken very seriously and given equal consideration.

if you have a news reader/rss reader we do have a syndication url you are more than welcome to use.

hrm... how was i suppose to know that? Tongue

mabe this is more of what im talking about.
http://forums.maxima.org/
there is an example - its a bit to cluttered, but you get the idea, it the starting point for the forum, it can list the rss feed, some rules, and notices, recent forum posts and a side menu for various sections.
they also have the website at www.maxima.org, which im assuming not to many people vist as frequent as the forums, thats why they have the front end like they do on the forums.

im not sure if ya got what i ment before - so im just restating that, and if ya got it, im sorry Tongue

I didn't know we had an RSS feed either. Heh.

That does look better. I guess it doesn't need moved over that much as the threads get chopped. Still, an improvement. Thanks!

Well, it seems to only be on my widescreen monitor that's 1680 x 1050 when I have it maximized (which I don't always do). On my work laptop, it's widescreen but everything fits fine.

It's no big deal. It's near impossible to make it look perfect for everyone's resolution.
