From what i've been reading over at UBIs forums, R6Vegas is nearly unplayable as an Internet game. Lots of kicks of players by PunkBuster, server crashes, no stand alone server files, people's game crashing when the server maps change.
There is a LOT of complaining about it over there. And, apparently, not many people play it multi-player because of the aforementioned issues.
The recent 1.04 version patch actually required many people to reinstall the game just to install the patch. Someone posted a work around on the site. There was _MUCH_ moaning about that, too.
It seems that UBISoft has pretty much screwed the pooch with regard to R6Vegas on the PC as far as the multi-player part of the game is concerned.
Now, the single-player game, which does have some issues, is otherwise pretty solid. And a lot of it, although it can get really difficult in some places, is great fun. It depends on your preferences.
Supposedly there is a patch coming (1.05) that is supposed to address the PunkBuster issues. I don't know what else they might fix (or break).
One gripe I have is that there is only one saved game at any time. So if you get to the last mission of the game and decide you want to go back and replay the second mission, the rest of the game will be re-locked and you can't go back to where you were unless you backed up the directory where the save game is stored and restore that.
It's one thing to use a checkpoint save system. It's another to use it as a straightjacket for the player to try to force you to play the game in a linear fashion. Yet more arrogance from the game designers.

wow, sounds just like ubisoft to me.. they dont care about making games at all. this really just outlines those words much bolder.
i hope with those high hardware requirements that very little people bought the game too.

Agreed. I sometimes wonder if Peter Molynieux is happy with the current state of affairs at UBISoft. I think UBISoft was a better company before it went public.
