Heh, I think that the sales and general public opinion of the newest R6: Vegas game might prove you wrong.

However, I can see that they are a big break from the old R6 games.

I think both games (R6 Vegas and GRAW) would be better received by "veteran" gamers if those titles didn't have the Rainbow 6 and Ghost Recon names attached to them.  IMHO, those two games are not up to snuff to be called sequels to the originals.  They are pretty good games in their own right.  But I think they are not true to their legacy.

Had they been called "Terrorist Hunt" and "Advanced Warfighter" and not tried to ride the coattails of Rainbow 6 and Ghost Recon, we could have just evaluated them on their merits as stand-alone games with far fewer expectations about what we were getting.

Both games are so far from their forebears that the title is misleading to those of us who played the originals.

I think "Terrorist Hunt" is too hard.  And I think the rendering on "Advanced Warfighter" is terrible.  I was playing a level in AW last night.  And the entire image just "sparkles" like it's bad analog TV signal reception.  Add that on top of the muddy image and the golden brown color palette and it looks pretty cruddy.  It looks awful compared to Terrorist Hunt.

The image on TH is generally blurry.  But it looks far better than AW.

I'm going to have to finish R6Vegas one day.  I can't let that game sit on the shelf just mocking me... :hmm:

See, on an SD tv, GRAW looks a little too bright in spots (even after adjustments) but on my HD, it looks great. While browns are the predominant color, it IS Mexico slums.

I should have been more specific.  GRAW XBox 360 looks MUCH better than does GRAW PC.  I was talking about the visuals on the PC.  I don't have a 360 and couldn't play it on that if I did.  I DO have it on the XBox.  And even that looks far better than GRAW PC does without all the fancy rendering on the 360.  Even on a 24 inch analog TV.

If you haven't seen GRAW on the PC, then you may not get why I don't like it.

about redstorm - they are not the compainy that they once were, and when i see a picture of the group of redstorm guys that help with rainbowsix games these days, i say , where is the coder that is going to make this process good, with little bugs? i dont see one.  its not the same group of guys.

and yet again, even if they were (or one or two left from the old days) they would still have to do what the parent compainy wants them to do.  its a team effort between ubi and redstorm anyways.

not sure what envolvment redstorm had with vegas, but i hear its a good game, but the lack of legacy hardware support (supporting systems with only large hardware restraints is a pain in the u know what).  and then on top of that, those sm3.0 (video card term) dont do crap for the game itself, then you have the whole still having bugs and not wanting to fix them.

then the mentality from the customers that its alright for them to not patch it, and move onto annother game.  then leaving ubisoft in the dark and thinking that consle games are better because we dont have to patch them and its for one system only not millions of differnt configs.

hey and thats not the lest of the problems with ubisoft.

Too true buddy, too true. I have friends that have actually boycotted Ubisoft for various problems with their games and their unfriendly lack of support on the forums for such games. I haven't really had a problem with them until Vegas was released. Their choice to go with the limited number of graphics cards was wrong. Since I bought the game and had to return it I'm thinking that maybe their is something to my friends and their boycott of Ubisoft.

Console port and it looks like the game is now unsupported--the official UBI vegas forums are quite fun to read if you enjoy seeing UBI squirm and dance to explain why no info why they are locking and deleting threads.

Lockdown,Graw, Blazing Angels and now Vegas. It's time for UBI to get out of PC development and go console only.

If you don't think of it as R6, just a tactical shooter I think it's alright... Just does not quite live up to it's heritage. ;-)

I think vegas would be just fine if we could have control over our server and an game browser similar to rvs.  People would adapt to the game play.

Obviously this has everything to do with whether or not we are talking XBOX 360 or PC, because if we are talking XBOX 360, then this game rocks.
...period.

Whats funny is, the same feature that I complained about with Graw2 is expanded upon with this game.

Plus...its (I'm assuming...although we all know what happens when we 'assume') the Unreal engine used is the new one?

At any rate, it retains the third person view, when taking cover, and reverts back to in body camera otherwise.

Just perfect in my humble opinion! Smiley
