Any one get the PC version today? I might get it for christmas, at the latest janurary 4th pay cheque. Also would be nice to know whats the same and different from the 360 version, I was happy with that version, I'm hoping it's atleast as good as that. I also want to see what it looks like on different systems.

I'm still waiting for a demo. :hmm:
I've been caught out before by developers big claims only to end up with something far inferior. There are some very mixed views over at the Ubi forums at the moment regarding the PC version.

There are some very mixed views over at the Ubi forums at the moment regarding the PC version. Sounds like GRAW. I really hope this is a good game...but like TJ, I'm more eager for a demo than to rush out and buy it.

Guys the game is f$%ing great.
I am really enjoying terrorist hunt, since no one is playing online right now.
This game is HARD, its not walk in the park.
And those Terros know how to use a shotgun, I normally find myself on the business end of it.

prob not until epic releases unreal2007. There might be some contractual stuff making sure they release it first.

Tried it out a bit, here are some first impressions.
The bad first.
No free lean, SHUDDER. there is lean from cover, ala splinter cell. the difference and my major beef is that it's not toggleable, so you HAVE to hold it to lean out. this will lead to unnecessary cramps, especially considering it's not this way on the 360, from what I remember. because the lean it self it's toggle able, so I'm holding down one key, and one mouse button just to lean, this needs to change.
I could use prone, I know the game is more urban, and close quarters, but in most of this series, theres been prone, and snipers, and there are situations that call for it, like being on a road at the top of a hill, or a roof in this game.
Now the good.
It's literally like SC, with some more momentum. It's nice to be able to drop smoke and then shoot out the tangos with your heat vision.
it's nice being able to properly hide behind a wall, un like in pervious games, where you needed to be prone to have full cover, and not expose the top of you head.
being able to repel down a wall, damn sweet.
I can jump over a small wall, FINALLY
and finally, the most important thing. BEING ABLE TO PICK UP ENEMY WEAPONS (fixxxer this is for you, since some of them drop AKs). and those AKs, pack the appropriate sound, and kick.
I think the series has lost its way some what, but from this last one, its one the mend from lock down. atleast this time the tangos worry me. Alot of the things borrowed from SC work, and don't feel like tack ons, it's adds to the feeling that your more then a foot soldier. I think between GRAW, double agent, and this game, things are looking up. I think free lean needs to come back, but everything added has peaked my interest.

Talon, It would be priceless if you posted on the ubi forums your critique of the game, as a past developer of the game I think you would have a lot of insight on where the project may have gone awry.

I personally dont think it when awry anywhere, its fun, its immersive, its got an addictive multiplayer that will hold players for alot longer than most games.
Sure you can read the fourms and make a long long list of things that Fourmers and Rouge Spear players say are missing that break the game, but if we developers made everything those guys wanted in a game and never made anything different not only would we not want to make games but we wouldnt sell crap.
Its hella fun, is it Rouge Spear tactical masterpeice of all time, hell no.... but its fun, and if I can honestly sit down and waste night after night playing it over all the other games I have then who gives a crap. If you want a sim, take up paintball, airsoft, or join the military, sims dont sell copies.
Thats as brutally honest as I can get, and before people start registering at the site to flame me for saying it, take the time to sit down and play with it, without wishing it was RS and tell me you didnt have fun. After all thats the whole point of games, no?

and finally, the most important thing. BEING ABLE TO PICK UP ENEMY WEAPONS (fixxxer this is for you, since some of them drop AKs). and those AKs, pack the appropriate sound, and kick. It's about damn time. I remember the old counter-argument to being able to pick up an enemies weapon. "You're a highly trained special operative. You take meticulous care of your firearm because it's the difference between life and death. So why would you want to pick up a tango's AK, which has been poorly cared for?" And I would always say, if I run out of ammo for my Steyr AUG and I can either pick up an AK or use my 9mm pea-shooter...I'm picking up a damn AK. So this is definitely good news.

And don't for get the simple fact that the AK kicks ass in this game. All the more reason to pick it up.

annother point about making games is making games that work and then if they dont... then make a patch to make it work... also testing before releasing a game. ubi and ea fall to this flaw all to often.
