no the old nato would have fought a proxy war in Georgia (*hint* Afghanistan *hint*) What about the Chicoms? What is there reaction if this all goes down? Do they join there old Russian brothers? Do they sit on the side waiting to benefit from who ever wins? Do they even have the resources to even attempt military operations beyond there own borders? I know Russia has oil but does China and if not does Russia have enough for them both?

http://news.yahoo.com/story//ap/20080816/ap_on_re_eu/russia_us_missile_defense

so Poland buys into the missile shield, which btw doesnt seem that contraversal these days, then a Russian general threatens use of force up to nuclear, then i hear on fox news (still looking for a link) the Moscow compromised with Ukraine for Russian inspections of the inerfax missile base. If thats true then what is the difference between Russias political and its military opinion and how much control does Moscow have over its military.

Gen. Anatoly Nogovitsyn (the Russian deputy cheif of staff of armed forces) made the threat and the Polish government offered the compromise but Moscow hasnt accepted yet. Other things I got from this artical a.) a U.S./Polish agreement to come to each others aid in case of trouble (aka military ally treaty) and Conoleeza Rice's quote "Russia should welcome having democracies on its border, not threaten them", this may be nothing but she said welcome democracies on its border not in its country.......................

lol, I've started noticing this as well. There has been alot of sly digs at the democratic status of the Russians recently.

Supposedly the Russians and the Ukrainians are having a bit of a barny about the russian naval base in the Ukraine. The Ukranians dont want them them to stay there any more and want them out by 2017 when the lease expires. The Russians dont care and say they wont leave.
(still that is 9 years away!)

yeah Im not sure about the wording of that speach but it sounds aspicious (sp?)

if the lease runs out on that naval base the Russians cant just sit there. They have to leave if they dont it is a violation of the Ukrains soverenty.

Russian Bombers land in Venezuela.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7609577.stm

For every Georgia and Poland I think the Russians are after their own island of friends close to American borders. (Astute manoeuvring by the Ruskies, not good for the americans)

Well, it's nice to know that Russia's professors are as nutty as our own.

Well,,, it would be if we could still afford to play.

I have been working on a method of making my own toilet paper, I should be quite popular with the ladies in another 5 years at this rate. (Theres still some minor snags in the conveying system thru the drying kiln.)

Crazy Day's eh'?
