Churchill went through a period where his political opposition considered him simply a dangerous warmonger. Much like the right and left of America right now.
Below is my original full post. I decided to put only his words in the first post.
In the middle east, we face an enemy who's end goal is to eradicate, or enslave, the western culture. They want us all converted to Islam, or be beheaded.
We've already seen the beheadings of captured westerners by Islamic Fascists. And an anti-semetic radical Iran is working hard on the ability to nuke Isreal, and any other non muslim nation. Iran actually believes they need to bring about the apocolypse to succeed, it's a basic part of their religion.
The rise to power, and the desired goals of radical Islamic fascism, is eerily reminiscent of the rise of the Third Reich.
It has to be stopped; Western and Jewish cultures need to be defended. They have already struck us once here on our own soil with the destruction of the World Trade Center And the horrible deaths of 3000 innocent American civilians.
Members of their society live right here among us, in our own neighborhoods, where your children go to school. They lay in wait, until another Osama gives the order to strike again.
What and where will it be next time? Your workplace? Your family?
For as problematic as the war in Iraq and Afghanistan have become, only complete victory over our aggressors will ensure our safety. Trying to "talk" with them, only allows them more time to strengthen, more time to aquire nuclear weapons, more time to plan and set up for the next 9/11.
No one likes the war in Iraq. Everyone wants it over. But Bush waged war in the Middle East, instead of waiting for them to bring the fight here to the streets of America. We are all much better off with the front being over there, than over here. Ask the British who had families blown up on the buses, ask the Spanish who lost loved ones in the train station bombing. We all want the fight to be in the enemy's house, not in ours.
Now the new Democratic congress, in typical historical liberal fashion, wants to pull out of Iraq, because it's too hard. They want to 'negotiate and talk' to Iran and Syria; To ask for their help in securing Iraq. Iranian and Syrian fighters are killing US soldiers as I type this. Iran and Syria want us to lose, so they can become the rulers of the middle east. They want America to fail. So how can you justify asking for them to help us? That is suicide.
Bill Clinton 'talked' to North Korea. He accepted their fake promises, and now they have nuclear weapons.
Clinton also pulled us out of Somalia, when it got 'hard'. Now Al Quaida and Islamic fascism has seized a terrible grip on Somalia. A new breeding ground for those that will come to the US to kill you and me.
Talking, and cut and run, only empowers your enemy.
So, as the Democrats, and the new Iraq Surrender Group report decide to both 'talk' to the enemy, and pull our troops out of the middle east, I offer you the words of Winston Churchill, who spoke to those who thought they didn't have to fight the Nazi's. His words eerily mirror our own scenario, of if you don't fight them now, you will fight them later at home when it's to late.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves. "And Churchill had a far different ideology about cut and run and negotiate. And he was right. Those that waited to talk or took no action, be it the Jews, or France, or Poland; fell to defeat at the hands of the Nazis. Churchill knew what had to be done...
"You ask, What is our policy? I will say; “It is to wage war, by sea, land and air, with all our might and with all the strength that God can give us: to wage war against a monstrous tyranny, never surpassed in the dark lamentable catalogue of human crime. That is our policy.” You ask, What is our aim? I can answer with one word: Victory—victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory however long and hard the road may be; for without victory there is no survival.
We shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and the oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be. We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender.
Hitler knows that he will have to break us in this island or lose the war. If we can stand up to him, all Europe may be free and life of the world may move forward into broad, sunlit uplands. But if we fall, then the whole world, including the United States, including all that we have known and cared for, will sink into the abyss of a new Dark Age made more sinister, and perhaps more protracted, by the lights of perverted science.
Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duties, and so bear ourselves that, if the British Empire and its Commonwealth lasts for a thousand years, men will still say, “This was their finest hour!”The American left could learn a few things from Churchill. His insight helped save the free world from defeat. And the free world is threatened now, by islamic fascism, as it was then by the Third Reich.
