i'm sure you all have seen or heard about her. if not do a cnn or bbc search for her and you'll get quite a few articles about what she is out there doing.

let's discuss this. i want to hear your thoughts on what she is doing and if you agree or disagree with it.

me personally i agree and find it kind of inspiring. i also find it distastefull what the right wing media is trying to do to her.

thoughts?

TBH I had no idea who you where on about so I searched it, as you suggested, here.

I have nothing against peaceful protest. If she wishes to protest outside Dubyas ranch, good for her.

Quote
Late on Monday, a truck driver mowed down the hundreds of small crosses bearing the names of fallen soldiers in Iraq that had been planted along a roadside.

One man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident, police said.

That is wrong. How people can pay so little respect to those who died in battle is makes me feel ill. I hope the police/D.A. throw the book, and then some, at them!

Right. I'm off to check the Foxnews website on this lady. They have a tendancy of being right wing enough to annoy me!

Why not meet with this woman weeks ago?  What would have been the harm to give her a polite 5 minutes?  Meeting with Cindy Sheehan would have totally disarmed any further story about her.  Do you really think that she'd be garnering the kind and level of press attention she's getting now if her simple request had been met weeks ago?

Chalk up yet another blunder for this Presidency with this one IMHO.

While I agree that the far-right has been unreasonably harsh on this woman ("traitor"? Come on... ), the far-left isn't above blame either. They have moved in and shamelessly used this woman's grief and media exposure to push their own political agendas.

The only thing I can really keep asking myself is, what would her son think of all of this?

What a mess...

agreed. i think she is a media whore who is dissrespecting her sons honor. Apparently, he was mainly raised by his father and step mother and he had many huge fights with his biological mother for years over politics and such. It was his choice to fight. W didnt not force him. According to FOX news (and do not jump me about watching fox or i will murder you), anyways, according to FOX he served two tours out there, both of which were volunteer.

this woman disgusts me. if i were her son, id be ashamed of her. no respect.

Ugh...saying 'according to FAuX news' pretty much negates any point you were trying to make.  It's like making a point by saying 'according to Michael Moore'.  Both may have some facts in there but there's so much BS that it makes them uncredible.

IMHO...Bush meets the lady for a big 5 minutes 3 weeks ago and this is a non-story.  Now, as Mike points out, it's building into a two sided, 3 ring circus that isn't going to go away anytime soon and the circus is taking attention away from a pretty valid moral point by Mrs Sheehan.

The fact is he DID live primarily with his step parents. His contact WAS limited with his actual biological mother. I can see why.

If you find the way the right is portraying her disgusting, maybe you should find the way she used her son disgusting.

@ Couch and TSE: GOOD use of talking points, :cookie:s to both of you.

it still doesn't negate the fact she has every right to know what NOBLE cause her son died for and to exercise her right to PEACEFULLY protest. next you'll be telling us that her husband filled for divorce... ooo:1 (12):

Ummm... it says in the one article that her husband DID file for divorce, in an "unrelated" act of self-preserve.

Evidently, no one here has lost a child. I haven't, but have come close.  No one should outlive their kids.  There is nothing that compairs to the kind of dispair and agony that comes with loosing a kid. Whether you live with the kid or not, their still yours.  My ex-wife would die if our son did and she's had limited contact with him since he was 15.

I really can't believe what I'm reading here from you guys.  She disgusts you?  Shes a media whore? She's neither.  The press did that.  She set up shop to talk to him.  If the press makes a big deal out of it it's their fault not hers.

I hope you can stand up to your own high standards of actions if you loose a kid.  I know I won't be able to.

No. That's not what happened. She CALLED the media, she ASKED for people to join her. There was a story glorifying her in the paper a couple days back and it made reference to the people who joined her from San Diego. Neither of them have children in the military, neither of them have children. Oddly enough both of them have been anti war protestors since before the war. Apparently they called her after hearing about her on the neeeeewwwwssss and she said what she needed was "bodies". I couldn't help but laugh at the irony of that statement. She does need bodies. Not the bodies of her supporters but of dead soldiers. She AND her cronies are exploiting the deaths of those soldiers in a grotesque and DISGUSTING manner. Who asked the soldiers if they wanted their deaths to be used this way? Who gets to chose how these soldiers memories are used?

Should by estranged mother be allowed to say "Hey, I left him when he was about 8 and haven't spoken to him since... but I heard about him dieing through a courtesy call from his father who I hadn't spoken to for 11 years... so I think I'm going to protest the war. I mean... I haven't seen him for 11 years, but another 20 or 25 years without him before I die! That's unbearable!?!?!"

Thats the height of class. She is using her sun. That disgusts me.

OK, Rush Limbaugh is against her. Isn't he one of those assmonkeys that also took a stand against violent video games, stating that they corrupt our youth and should be banned (censorship) from sale in the US?

Anyway, I think it's quite clear that she got a taste of the limelight and is now unwilling to let go of it. I'm pretty much done with this discussion as I don't really have anything further to say. I just hope this is what the son would want, but I doubt it.

who better than a mother to decide that? certainly not us or any, ANY of the the media be it right or left biased.

BUT i still stand by my opinion that she has every right to ask and know what noble cause her son died for. and to the best of my knowledge NO ONE has answered that one simple question.

She HAD the opportunity. She met with him in a meeting almost a year ago IIRC. After which she PRAISED him for his sincerity.

I swear I'm done now.
