Yeah, I know. Treadmill? Anyway, we picked one up for free because the previous owner didn't have the time or patience to fix it.
Anyway, it's a ProForm Crosswalk 405E. Circuit board says 2006. So it's not that old. Problem is the "key" reader (the key is a magnet, pretty powerful one at that) doesn't seem to be working properly. Or there's something corrupt inside. Not sure at this point.
If you hold in "Stop" and place the key, you can get into "user info" mode, which allows you to shut off the "demo" mode. This also allows you to adjust the readings from english (miles) to metric (kilometers). However, to exit "user info" mode, you must remove the key. And when you place the key without going into "user info" mode, the screen simply cycles between lighting up all digital items and going blank, in a 3-second cycle. I had the machine working twice, so I know it works. I was even able to adjust the incline and speed, and walk/jog for a little bit, but I wanted to get it working consistently so I simply stopped the machine. And couldn't get it working again.
I can take pictures of the circuit board and whatnot if necessary, but I'm just wondering if there's something else I can do to remedy the problem. Maybe bypass the key reader? Any suggestions?
