Maybe I missed it somewhere but what effect does the "Rep" button have for each persons posts, and what does hitting "I Approve" or I Disapprove" actually do?

it either adds or subtracts from the OTHER person's rep. not your's. and it does nothing for the thread.

maybe later on we will have a system in place were you are allowed to certain parts of the forum based on your rep. kind of like a 1337 members section. down the road tho.

another forum I belong to uses the rep system and it really comes in handy in pointing out the assclowns of the forum. It will be really useful when this forum expands too a lot of posting members.
Think if we had this system with the old forum back when the ravenshield tools started merging into the chitchat forums

in addition: we can do this(my previous post) right now. it's called "promotions"
example: member A get's xxxx rep points, he/she gets "promoted" to a predefined user group which can be setup to have differant forum permissions.
vB actually has a really robust and intricut way of promoting members. there is about 20-25 differant combinations of promotions we can do.
i'm liking vB more and more each day.

thinking about it a bit more we CAN have it were we demote users to a VERY limited status with say, only 1 forum they can see purely based on rep. :wink:

Every time you ask that question, god kills a kitten. 1 I dont like cats  Anywho, its an interesting idea to have promotions and demotions within the forums. When we do get people coming in and spamming from their school computers everyone online can just demote them into the basement and they'll prolly leave of their own accord. |
