How 'bout Inventor? You want a piss off program, thats the one you want. Especially when you're running it on a computer that runs GR (original) at ... 30 fps.

You might also want to check out Blender. It's free, fairly easy, and umm.. free.

And as I'm an old programmer I've started to build my own plug-ins for importing and exporting filetypes. :tongue: Trying to learn ZBrush and/or Deep Paint right now... if I can find the time to do it... the industry almost demands me to learn a normal mapping program if I'm going to get a job. Lightwave, I don't know... not useful for games at least, it's strengths are in the lighting setups which you don't use for games. XSI is also a good program, but also not very useful for game modeling. In the latest version you can select to have the hotkeys like Maya, 3DSM or Lightwave so you can feel at home even though your more familiar with one of the other programs. XSI is really good for rendering as you can do compositing in the program before exporting it, although a function also not useful for games. And you have to be a master at Photoshop of course. Try all the programs and stay with what you like the best. That is my suggestion.  [/color] |

might give Maya a try too. But i don't want to quit on Max or any other program too soon. They are pretty hard to master in the beginning i guess but eventually you can learn anything you want. Anyway, i am serious about learning modeling. Ofcourse i need to find the time though.
