From CBC NewsA South Korean man who recently quit his job to play more video games died after playing almost non-stop for 50 hours at an internet café.
"We presume the cause of death was heart failure stemming from exhaustion," a Taegu provincial police official told Reuters.
The 28-year-old man began playing on-line battle simulation games at the café in the southeastern city of Taegu on Aug. 3. He only left the spot over the next three days to go to the washroom or take brief naps on a makeshift bed, police said.
When he didn't come home, the man's mother asked his former colleagues to find him. When they reached the café, he said he would finish the game and then go home, the daily JoongAng Ilbo reported.
He died a few minutes later, the paper reported.
Former work colleagues and staff at the internet café said he had recently quit his job to spend more time playing games. Dudes and dudettes, not to sound racist or prejudiced, but wtf is up with Asians and gaming? I dig gaming as much as the next guy, probably even more than the average person, but kill yourself with it  ?

Some people take video games way to seriously. I say go out and play something, rather than play something make believe. Sure, video games are hella fun. But to quit your job to play them? Thats stupid if you ask me.
DaSmerg, you don't sound racist. For some reason, they like their video games. Badly. It seems also, that the accidents in gaming that you hear about, have a asian in them. I am not racist, and I don't plan on converting. But somethings just work out that way.

why didnt he request a medic? duh LMAO!!!! yeah they do tend to takr gaming a little too serious. i once played online for 36 hours straight but i got sick afterwards and haven't done that in a long time. :sad: |

Things like this is why BioWare added their occational area loading texts in BG2 that said things like "Even though your character doesn't have to eat, you still need to" and the same about sleep and stuff.
None can say that online gaming doesn't kill. It kills the weak minded fools. Not as often physcial death as social, mental and economic death.

I think this one is a fake also, I've read it elsewhere before, same exact details but slightly different location and date- was in Korea, just different internet cafe name. Time spent on computer was same though- 50 hours. I think I actually read it in a magazine or something, it was retracted the next month as a "joke".

I was thinking the same thing Lazer. I had heard of this like three months ago but the date on the story says it occurred like a week ago? I'm not sure about this one.
