My digital camera captured some storm video and I was able to extract some kewl images.

The strike was about 300 feet away from the idiot with the camera...  Cheesy

Notice how the lightning actually forms on the ground first...  Wierd...

Lightning often comes from the ground up. To explain briefly, the charge in the clouds charges the surface of the earth as well. Lightning just starts where the electrons are pushed around.

Great images, thanks for sharing!

Yes, very cool images.  Just had a thunderstorm about 30 minutes ago.  It lasted for a good 2 hours.  Still raining.

The ground to ground lightning pics arent very interesting tho

I took some photos of a lightning storm at Virginia Beach about 6 years ago.  The lightning was purple and blue.  Problem was, I only had an extra promotional roll of film I got for free so I had to use that, and any regular photo place will not develope it.  Ive had it in a drawer for years and always wondered how them pics came out.

Things that blow up always look cool.

Thunderstorms are awesome though.  I love looking out the window when its pooring down rain, theres a ton of wind, lightning, thunder.  You know.  The works.
