I headed back up to the mountains for a hike today.
It started off really cloudy, and well... pretty much stayed that way all day. Not really the "partly" cloudy day forecasted, but it was a nice day nonetheless.

I hiked Mt. Willard, a nice little mountain with an impressive 1000ft. sheer cliff face on its southern side (thankfully the trail heads up the much gentler north slope).
I've been up Willard tons of times in all seasons, so nothing new to be seen (although the trail had significant ice cover), but it's still a very nice hike. I also got the bonus of being able to feed a Canadian jay and a red squirrel at the summit. Apparently they really like pizza flavored Pepperidge Farm Goldfish.

Anyway, I got some decent shots...

Absolutely awesome....I like the one looking down on the, I guess its a road? Whatever it is...it's freaking awesome....too bad it's not a little larger I'd like to have it as a wallpaper.

Edit: its the darker image I'm talking about.

Thanks, there is a slightly larger (1024x768) version available in the gallery album:

If this isn't big enough I can throw up the original (2816x2112)

It's actually kind of weird, I got almost the same shot in December of '05 (cloudy, dark, with a break in the clouds lighting up the Willey House site in the notch):

Nice shots. I have to agree about the valley road picture. It looks like a color version of something Ansel Adams might do.
