Okay. Wow.  This next one tops all of these....

Anyone who knows a little something about acoustic guitar will really get this one; Not only is this guy's technical performance spot on, but he maintains a beautiful sense of harmony in his composition.

Outstanding....

PS... Anyone know of a way to capture/save these youtube vids to your harddrive?

Here's a different guy from Russia; Erik Mongrain is still my favorite (his melodic approach is awesome), but the interesting thing about this next video, is listen closely, even while the guy throws in the lead licks, his bass line never ever stops or misses a single beat. You'd swear there was two guitars there....

I've played like that before. fretting a string and tapping out the harmonics with my right hand. More than that though, I love making pinch harmonics ring out on acoustic. My friends are amazed by it because they've only heard pinch harmonics on an electric guitar.

.

. Honourable mention because it's so f**king awesome.

When all is said and done, I think Guns N' Roses had the best sounding setup out of any band I've ever listened to. Matt's drums sound so beautiful, Duff's bass is just amazing and Slash's guitar sounds like...well pure awesome as it always does.

. Absolutely amazing. Gets kind of boring after about 7 or 8 minutes, but he's talented as hell.

There's a ton of that tokyo concert. Is that on a full length DVD anywhere? Those had to come from somewhere, and those are commercially/proffessionally made.

Also, I asked this before somewhere, but is there anyway to save those YouTube videos?

Guns N' Roses - Use Your Illusion I (Live in Tokyo 1992) Pt.1 (1992)

Guns N' Roses - Use Your Illusion II (Live in Tokyo 1992) Pt.2 (1992)

I've had the VHS versions of the 1992 Tokyo concert for as long as I can remember but it's time to get the DVD versions.

Ahh what the hell, I'll just post this in here as well. It's no longer about guitar, just music in general.

Yeah I don't quite understand that kind of response. I can play some stuff from Kirk Hammett, am I now the greatest guitar player? Does it mean that Kirk Hammett isn't that good of a guitarist?

Playing someone else's music is "easy", try writing something.

I don't mean to sound like a prick, but ignorance like that just irks me. It's like when someone who likes Andre Segovia or Jimmy Page just dismisses the talent of someone like Zakk Wylde or Dave Mustaine just because they play a different style of music.

You are allowed to like more than one style of music, one band and one musician. The world is full of very gifted musicians and allowing yourself to enjoy a good portion of them leaves you with a lot of choice when skimming through that iTunes library.

EDIT---

P.S.

Here's more of Justin King. I love this stuff...

I'll sum it up this way.

Seems to me that all the musicians that are actually good and actually achieve something like the ones listed in this thread, all have a sense of modesty and humility. They're not going around going "Meh, I could play all that guy's stuff."

It's always the wannabees that talk that way. 80% of the guitarists in the world think they are "all that", and they're usually not. And typically the ones running their mouths about it have the most to learn. They usually aquire some limited form of talent, they learn to mimic a few riffs, so they think they are suddenly Hendrix re-incarnated.

I don't hear kaki king running around going "Lindsay Buckingham? Meh, I could play all his stuff."

Look, when I was 16 you couldn't tell the difference between my version of EVH's Eruption or the album. But 20 years later I'm on here with a video saying "Yeah, I pretty much suck".

An even if Atrial turned out to be the world's greatest guitarist eva', that sort of attitude of "meh, that guy's no big deal" is so frickin annoying I really don't want to hear any of it.

I've been really trying to work on my right hand slap technique;

This is a really nice piece, with a tutorial. Notice the two smacks in the opening section, The first one is no problem as it occurs between string notes. The second one however, hits both the guitar top, and the 4th string at the same time, sounding out the 4th string note.

I'm working on getting that second slap right. It's quite hard to get that note to ring out properly and get the slap at the same time.

This is a really nice piece in the tutorial by Erick Turnbull. But the real piece is actually played 5 times faster, I'll find the link. I actually like the slower speed of the tutorial better. It just sounds nicer.

Here's the high speed version. I actually like the sound of it slower, better.

110% in the right. One thing that I admire in musicians is a sense of modesty. People say that my playing is good, but I still got a lot to learn.

That is because they want everybody to think they're better than they really are. But that's obvious. Those people also don't do it for the music, they do it for the recognition.

Ditto. I don't care how talented and skillful they are with an axe. If they are cocky about it, that arrogance will turn me off to the music.
