Megadeth creators of Symphony of Destruction... is becoming nerdy?

http://www.megadeth.com/gow/gears_of_war.mp3
Gears of War
Music and Lyrics Dave Mustaine
 Ethnic cleansing with no defending
These acts of genocide
A fatal ending with no surrendering
To cover up the crimes and lie
 Smart bombs, precision guided armament
A more sophisticated way to end up dead
Still we search and invent such intelligent weapons
That kill each other like the Gears of War
Hoo-rah!!!
If you ride with thieves, then you die with thieves
Cross my heart and hope that you die, that you die!
When the smoke has cleared, the devil's in the mirror
And you see his warheads paint the sky, now you die!
 Smart bombs, precision guided armament
A more sophisticated way to end up dead
Still we search and invent such intelligent weapons
That kill each other like the Gears of War
Hoo-rah!!!

If I'm not mistaken, Megadeth also did the theme for Duke Nukem. Also, Trent Reznor and/or Nine Inch Nails did a lot or all of the music for Doom III. A lot of musicians are huge gamers, they just have the added ability of becoming part of them through the music.

Even if it were to come out, would you still want it? It's on a decade old engine.

Here's[/b] the latest on Duke Nukem Forever.

Also, Broussard: We won't rush Duke Nukem Forever.

I know that Incubus and Hoobastank both have tracks on Halo 2 (to name but a few bands on that soundtrack!). Also I'm pretty certain that NIN did the music to Quake.

Following the success of primarly games like GTA, game soundtracks are slowly becoming as popular as movie soundtracks

I totally forgot about GTA. Even though that game just uses pre-recorded tracks rather then getting the band to make music specifically for that game, it does show you how popular the games are becoming even when it comes to the audio.

Yeah, it was supposed to be a joke.  Its pretty pathetic that they "won't rush it" after ten years, either.  I just realized something else, though: Duke Nukem Forever = DNF = Did Not Finish.  Strange coincidence...

I also forgot to say- Good song. Megadeth has always been a favourite band of mine, through their good and bad times.

Nine Inch Nails and Quake as well. I remember all those tracks back in the day.

NIN's moody, atmospheric music always fit well into ID's games.

Probably the biggest bit of licensed music is the new Guitar Hero games, since that's the whole point of the game. My only complaint there is that it's not the original artists- probably to save on costs.

Me and the band played that game... then we realized how lame it was so  we picked up our instruments and had all had a guitar dual.

We should have recorded it....

Duke Nukem (Forever?) Soundtrack.

Not a bad line-up for a game.
