It's amazing to me how people get an idea into their heads then basically ignore people when they try to tell them they have the wrong idea or that the initial report was WRONG.

@Mike, some goober over a GhostRecon.net PMd me and when I told him I was not going to make it possible to extract maps, etc. to OBJ or 3DS files said he would use your extractor.  As far as I know that's not in the wild is it?

There is a thread over at GhostRecon.net where people are arguing over whether what I am doing is a good thing or not.  Some are saying there's no point to what I'm doing and that GhostView is a waste of time.  I suppose they don't realize that it's just an analysis tool that I released just for the novelty of it.  I've stated that but apparently people just don't bother to read the whole thread.

It's somewhat discouraging when people not only inaccurately disparage what you're doing but also don't bother to listen when you tell them they've either been misinformed or don't understand what's going on.

And that thread has also started the inevitable squabbling, too.  Some folks really do just need the occasional smack on the head, I think.

No. I never released an exe or any of the map parsing code (until the most recent thread, and all that does is basic geometry). It wasn't even working reliably (it crashed on half the maps) until just recently when you and I fleshed some of the details out. Its been sitting on a back-up disk for 4 or 5 years. I've never even compiled the code into an executable.
