What makes it seem worth it is the individual critiques from the instructors. So i can find out if I'm ****ing something up. And i think i read that the Unreal editor now occludes things on the fly, so no more portals.

Yep no more portals, and it can support additive or subtractive environments now.

3dbuzz has been contracted to produce training videos just as with UT2004, and a book as well.
Hopefully the videos will still be free, and should be available around the time as UT2007 comes out.

Although I found them informative, I found that they dick around too much with other students there when giving video lessons.

I love comedy, there's not many places it doesn't fit in. But when they're explaining stuff I'm having a really hard time with and then start screwing around while doing it I either get lost or just frustrated.

However, it's free so wtf am I complaining about?

i agree, great for free stuff. It helped me for sure.

HOWEVER, they do dick around a lot and they drag their feet. Another thing, is (during the hammer videos) they'll totally mess up. It's like they didn't prepare. I felt like he really wasnt a wiz (the russian guy). Again, it's free so what i am i complaining about. Better a black and white tutorial online.

Speaking of which, anyone read the "Level Design" articles on gamasutra? great stuff. I'll link to it:

http://www.gamasutra.com/features/20061026/luban_01.shtml

click on the author's bio to get to the other 2 parts of the series.

I always find it a pain to log into gamasutra...
