Can't figure out what happened.

For the last couple of days, whenever I go to a website that has macromedia flash elements, They do not display, and I get the message "You need the latest flash and to have javascript enabled to see this website"

I've redownloaded/installed the latest flash player repeatedly. On the flash site, I even see the "install successful" movie.

But websites are no go. Is it my javascript?

Anyone know where I can look and what setting might be causing this?

Thanks.

I have the same problem in Firefox running the NoScript add-in when I forget to allow the site to run scripts.

I was trying to think of something, but can't.

My kids were on here last week playing some online game, and often when that happens my screen settings or something gets screwed up, but nothing like this before. I thought about going back to a restore point of two weeks ago. I guess I should try that.

Nothing I do has fixed it.

I did a restore point to a week ago hoping that would catch a changed setting.  Nada.

Then despite a ton of Microsoft's "you sure you want to do this?" I hit "restore Internet Explorer to all default settings".   Nada.

After the restore, I suddenly had my Windows defender re-emerge.

Then I got a pop up to upgrade to IE 7. So I did.  So I have a totally newly installed Internet Explorer, and I still cannot get flash sites to work, even though i have properly re-installed the flash player.

Problem solved...

I checked around the web and it looks like some folks had luck if they downloaded the full version of the Flash player. Check this thread:

(See post #9)
Although, I can't say what screwed it up in the first place.
