I got a couple of viruses on my computer, and I quarantine them every time it comes up, but it keeps comming back. I believe they are self-replicating viruses or something.
The names are BackdoorWin32/rbot!C56E, TrojanDownloader:Win32/WMFpfv, onoes.exe, A0026613.exe, value.wmf.wm
any info on this would be appreciated.

Javaman's probably the best guy to ask about these. One thing I've seen before is there are certain viruses that somehow get into your 'system restore', or some other location that unintentionally puts the viruses back in after you've quarantined them. I use a free antivirus software that both scans daily, updates regularly, and also runs in real time to prevent viruses from getting in to begin with. It's worked well for me and totally free... http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1

AVG baybee! Norton's can't even keep up with the free protection level of AVG (and they CHARGE you for that limited protection!).
But also may want to look into running a combination of Spybot, Ad-Aware, and finally HijackThis, for any leftover residue. Those 4 programs should be installed on every gamer's rig. You can also look up any of those virus files with Google (full application name, ie trojan.backdoor.wm.exe or whatever) for specific removal instructions.

http://www.eset.com/ download the trial version, im using the full but the trial is just as good for so many days, recomend buying it! this is in the top 3 or 4 antivirus protections out there. I will actually quote mindless on this as I do concur that NOD32 is the very best for detection and removal.

http://www.av-comparatives.org/check it out.... November 2006 http://www.av-comparatives.org/seiten/ergebnisse_2006_11.php-Retrospective/ProActive Test- ESET 53% AVIRA 53% G DATA Security 43% Softwin 42% GriSoft ranked 3% total --On-demand comparative-- August 2006 G DATA Security 99.79% AVIRA 99.69% F-Secure 99.46% Kaspersky Labs 99.45% ESET 99,07% get yourself something good! G DATA Security seems to be one of the top! i couldnt find it for usa purchase tho - just euro's. so i got the next best ESET NOD32, tho AVIRA seems to be good too! honestly tho - im highly suggesting to do a restore to your system!! make a backup of your stuff especially an antivirus!!! then restore and install the antivirus asap when restore is complete. hey maybe just installing an antivirus might fix the problem tho.

Of course, you all know that according to Microsoft you won't need any anti-virus software once you move to Vista (ugh, yeah, sure - ).

"During a telephone conference with reporters yesterday, outgoing Microsoft co-president Jim Allchin, while touting the new security features of Windows Vista, which was released to manufacturing yesterday, told a reporter that the system's new lockdown features are so capable and thorough that he was comfortable with his own seven-year-old son using Vista without antivirus software installed." Here's a link to the full news story: http://www.betanews.com/article/Allchin_Suggests_Vista_Wont_Need_Antivirus/1163104965I will still have an anti-virus in place when I build a new machine with Vista Ultimate on it next year (or whenever I get my MSDN OS update). I tried to install my Norton Anti-virus (2006) on Vista RC-2 and it wouldn't install. So I may have to wait until someone puts out an anti-virus tool for Vista.

Yeah after dumping Norton for AVAST I've had zero problems.

avast is only rated at ADVANCED and lately rated at Standard... if you look at the link i posted last. its on demand detection of polymorphic virus's is terrible - two of ten detected its detection isnt that great either - norton fairs better.
in Retrospective / ProActive tests it did 18% while the better antivirus did 40+% dont worry there norton only got about 15%.
good thing is its false positivs is few and the On-demand scanning speed is average.
all we need now is annother netsky or nimda or some virus like that and all hell will break loose.

i was just commenting how avast was very simular to the performance of norton - give in some area's and take in others... point being made, they both are moot in compairison with everything.

if you're vigilant and pay attention to what you're doing you really don't need AV software. now a firewall is a must.

if you're vigilant and pay attention to what you're doing you really don't need AV software. now a firewall is a must. i dont agree 100% because of exploits that can be found in the system itself let alone in firewalls - which if you know what your doing with a firewall you may have no problems at all, but still an antivirus is needed. hell i run without a firewall, but i have a great antivirus - i havent had a virus yet, but my os is patched for now.

download only from trusted sources, run a good firewall, don't DON'T use file sharing apps(including bittorrent), use a good email provider(gmail, hotmail, isp, etc), patch your system when they come out and there is no real need for an AV program. now a firewall is more necessary than an AV app. but to be 99.99% sure you don't get anything do all of the above and add an AV app.
my personal preferences: AVAST ZoneAlarm free (works just fine) AdAware Spybot use these along with regular scans, updates, and just plain old caution and you should be just fine.
