Using a Computer Monitor as a TV

Does anyone know where to start if I wanted to start using my computer monitor as my TV?
I'd like to include my VCR/DVD player in the loop if possible, but what other gear would I need if it's even possible...

What's the monitor? What inputs does it have?

If you have a tower to leave it hooked to, just get a tuner (PCI card or USB). Otherwise, you'd have to have some sort of external tuner. That being the case, even if you don't have a spare comp, you'd probably be better off buying a cheap one (anything in the Athlon range, even as low as 1 gHz, will work fine for TV tuning and be able to run the hardware/software). I'd recommend going with a Win2K OS base, since WinXP doesn't seem to like tuner drivers, or at least not the ones for my card.

Eh, if you're talking about buying a new pc, why not buy a new monitor instead?
1. Get an LCD with plenty of nice inputs. Mono and I have both made some posts about our widescreen LCD's. Mine is the Dell 2007WFP. (His is 22" though I forget the brand).
2. Use a cable box and go component or s-video in depending on your hookups. You'll get a cleaner picture.
Another advantage of this is that you can hook up anything else to it as well like a console.
