Well I figured it's about time to get off my rump and snap shots of my recent build so here it goes. This is my work station and TK command center The small monitor in the corner is my old 17 inch Dell that is now hooked up to a dummy terminal I use to VPN into my work, I work from home now so I get a lot more time to goof off while crunching numbers and doing my job in a more lax environment. The things I love most about my new rig is the case and the heatsink. The case is has to be the most silent case I have ever picked. It's made out of different materials which hide the noise of the fans and it works really well for air flow. The heatsink is the biggest I have ever used and by far the best at cooling. I have 5 120mm fans, 1 in the PSU, and 4 in the case, the 4 in the case run at medium and are adjustable but they keep system temp @ 25c, while my CPU stays at 31c. The laptop you see is my mobile rig that I use for gaming via LAN parties or over at friends houses. Often time you'll find me fragging out one handed with a frappuccino in the other hand at starbucks. The fish is named Frodofraggins, and I blame him for pushing the page down button when punishing TKer's . As you can see I have some reading to do....I found this link that gives you EGM for one year free and it was out dated and the promotion was over but I never noticed the date so I filled it out not seeing the end date till I already submitted, and then these just came in the mail a few days back and I was like "friggin' noyce". I also subscribe to PC Gamer, PC World, Maximum PC. Here are the specs of my machines, DesktopProcessor: AMD 3500+ Motherboard: ASUS A8R32-MVP DeluxeRAM: 2Gb Corsair PC3200 Twin-X (4x 512 duals)Hard drive: 1x 200Gb Maxtor 7200RPM, 1x 80Gb Western Digital 7200RPM (Both IDE :hmm:) CD-ROM: Pioneer 16x DVD-RWVideo Card: Diamond ATi x1600 Pro PCI-e 512MBSoundcard: Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic Case: Antec P-180Power supply: Ultra X2 Titanium UV 550WPrice: $900, (without the video card, it was a contest win). Motherboard: No idea what make. It came out of a Sony VAIO. Probably Cheap-as-Sh!t™ Case: Some Antec case given to me by a friend. VAIO Motherboard doesn't fit case (board is too small) so it's glued and screwed into it. Processor: Pentium 4 HT, 2 Powersupply: 450W Cheap-as-Sh!t™ RAM: 1.25GB Cheap-as-Sh!t™ Hard Drive 1: 120GB Western Digital Hard Drive 2: 40GB Quantum F*ckerball. It completely shit the bed a month or two ago. Now it just clicks really loud 10 times in a row once every half hour. Disabling it in BIOS and in Windows doesn't do anything. The annoying-sound factor is beginning to outweigh the too-lazy-to-take-it-out factor. So It may be gone soon. CD/DVD Drive 1: Pioneer 8x DVD RW CD/DVD Drive 2: 16x DVD-RW Double Layer. Pointless since I'm too cheap to buy the DL disks. Video Card: RADEON 9800 Pro AGP. About the only thing I spent any real money on inside this PC (bought it when the card was still expensive). Monitor: 1600x1200 Cheap-as-Sh!t™ CRT. It doesn't always turn on. When it won't turn on I have to turn it back off, unplug the monitor, turn it on and let the caps discharge, turn it off, plug it back in, and then turn it on again (and it works). It also sometimes switched refresh rates and resolutions unexpectedly (usually when exiting a game). Soundcard: On-board SoundMAX Card. It works, so I guess I can't complain. Other Stuff: Wacom 6x8 Intuos3 Other Stuff: Logitech Extreme 3D Pro Joystick Other Stuff: HP Scanner (800-something I think)
Not really anything worth taking a picture of. ~Mike

I wasn't trying to make it a ePenis duel but I figured some of the gamers on the forum would want to post their mods. I don't consider my pc better than anyone's else because it runs windows and will crash with the best of them. :yup:

word of advice. keep that x600 cool on that zd8000 laptop.
i seen forums dedicated to issues with this unit and the problem seems to be the x600 chip. i dont know what happens with it, but i can suspect it gets to hot and damages the chip. you may have nothing to worry about, but just letting you know.

I wasn't trying to shit on your thread. I actually like looking at people's case mods, I've just never been motivated enough to do my own. Your set-up looks sweet. ~Mike

... this is easy. For Sale! Custom-built PC – Asking Price: $1,500.00 (pretty firm) In a minimalism approach, I’m attempting to rid myself of some “fruitless” and unnecessary possessions. I found that while commuting and working, I thoughtlessly dropped nearly 3 grand on building a personal computer for gaming. Though it’s a fantastic machine and offers many bragging rights, I’ve recently become aware that I don’t need this machine! I hardly game anymore, and I’m heading to Rome for the summer, then working at an internship at “Historically Speaking” in Boston, then afterwards it’s either Peace Corps or Africa Inland Missions. I obviously can’t be lugging this beast around with me everywhere. I’m very anal with my personal property, so you can rest assure that you’ll be getting a very well-maintained personal item. Also, I can offer some free software! ( listed below). If you or anyone is interested in purchasing this machine or have any inquiry at all, please leave a message here, PM me or send me an email @ blakemarshall1983@gmail.comHere are the system specs: 1 Free Software: -Windoxs XP Home Edition -Adobe Photoshop CS -Creative MediaSource -FRAPS Retail Version -Battlefield 2 (DVD) -Need For Speed: Most Wanted Black Edition (DVD) -Brothers In Arms: Road To Hill 30 (DVD) -PyschoNauts (CDROM) -Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory (Direct2Drive) -Steam Half Life 2 Silver Package I will, of course, clean up my hard-drives to meet your satisfaction/expectations. And here are some visual representations: Please let me know if you are interested!

Checking your Laptop, which is what HP brought it up as, you can upgrade the processor but you have to take it apart. You can change the Hardrive to a different one of bigger size and higher RPM. You can increase the RAM to 2 gigs. The video card is soldiered to the motherboard and is not replaceable, I'm sorry.

Sorry Mofoka I read through too fast. I knew you had a laptop. 2 gigs ram would that improve game play, I know it wasn't made for gaming also the HD you would put it in the same as a desktop?

Mofoka By the way that ram increase worked wonders thanks! I could only find 1 gig but it increased the speed and the graphics. I was playing the demo flight sim 2006 with low settings with the new memory I was able to play it full. Need for speed 2 was good or better etc. I guess all I had was 256 with 256 shared, I thought it was more, the hard drive will have to be later I'm not ready to reinstall all the games again and maps(15-20)

Just put my comp together this is what I ended up with.
Motherboard: Asus P5W DH CPU: Intel core 2 duo e6300 Ram: Corsair XMS 2x1 gigs 8000MHz Vidcard: ATI x1900 xtx HD: Seagate baracuda 7200.7 80 gig SATA 1 (soon to be joined by a western digital 250 gig sata 2, with 16 megs of cache) Monitor: LG Studioworks E900B 19" CRT. (thinking of a LG LCD 19" or 20" for christmas, depending on how much prices drop, and the price I can get at work) DVDR: 2 LGs ones a H10N, the others just another older LG Soundcard: Audigy 2 zs (thinking of getting a X-fi platinum and digtal speakers for chrsitmas as well)
I will say this about my system, it eats through any game for now, Oblivion at all high, all sliders to max, only lags out for a second when it's loading a new area, the new HD, and a good format should fix that. With BF2, Dark Messiah I have frames to spare. Though I don't run stuff at the highest resolutions, cause I don't play with my glasses on. it's either 1024 x 768 or 1280 x 960 (which I could only do now with the new vid card).
And this was the system I had up untill yesterday.
Motherboard: A7N8X-E Cpu: AMD athlon xp 2800+ Ram: generic 1.5 gigs not in dual channel Vidcard: Gigabyte 6600GT OC
All the rest of the stuff was carried over. to the new system. This old one lasted a long time, especially the board and processor, I threw in more ram over the years, that last 512 of ram and the 6600GT OC, was to play BF2 period, and at acceptable levels.
EDIT- Oh it looks like I can get away with having no pagefile, and so far no game crashes because of it. I know I can't keep it like this forever, but it's good to know my system can pull it off. If only photoshop didn't insist on it being on.

If your asking me peppa, my apologies, but that fine card is already in a freinds agp slot.
Still running with out a page file. 2-3 hours of BF2 tonight, not one crash, which at that point, becomes amazing in that BF2 didn't crash either.
Also a good 50-75 frames on oblivion, 100 in the POE mod for BF2, and on top of that 40-30 frames when recording with fraps at full resolution. totally playable and recording, ahhhh the luxuries.

I have about 5 PCs in my computer room here but I only use one for gaming. The others are for work, media stuff, old games and a Vista test machine. My gaming machine is: Intel D865PERLX motherboard Intel 3.2 Ghz Pentium 4 1GB PC3200 RAM (2x512MB sticks in interleave mode) Zalman copper CPU cooler PNY GeForce 7600GS with 512MB VRAM (AGP) 1 Maxtor 300GB SATA150 HD 1 Maxtor 320GB SATA300 HD LiteOn CD-R/RW/DVD-ROM drive Pioneer DVR-A09 DVD-+R/RW drive Viewsonic 21 inch monitor (CRT) I usually take the cast-off parts from my main gaming machine and put into my other machines. I have too many. I keep an old Pentium II machine loaded with DOS/WFW311/Windows 98SE to play my old games on. I could probably use DOSBox but I haven't had time to figure out how to use that properly, yet. One day, though... I've tried a number of games on the Vista machine. But since it has a GeForce 6600LE in it, it's not real snappy on games. Other than the video card, the system specs for the mobo, cpu and ram are the same. I think Vista RC2 still probably has a good bit of debug code in it. I'd love to try the gold version to see what difference that makes.

Here's my latest pic. It's a little aged though. Intel C2D E6300 (3.15ghz overclock) Gigabyte DS3 (C2 revision chipset) 2GB Corsair Denominator PC2-6400 800mhz HIS Radeon X1900XTX Audigy4 Pro OCZ GameXStream 700w Logitech Z-5300e speaker system Tyris 19" LCD 8ms Linksys 24port managed switch It's getting a little old. I'll be upgrading fairly soon...and I'm waiting for R600 to be released before I upgrade the graphics card.
