My computer has just taken a crap. I'm not sure what the problem could be. My friend plugged in his I-pod in the front USB, and poof, the computer went off. After that, every time I tried to turn it on, I can see the lights blink on for a split second and go off. So I waited a day and tried again. This time it turns on, I can see it light up and the CPU fan is running, but there is nothing else happening. No blinking red HDD light, nothing displayed on my monitor. I got this rig at the beginning of the semester. Right now, I'm on campus, and I'll only be here for a bit tomorrow.

could be a number of things wrong. i would say power supply or logicboard. start with that. it could be cpu, video, or memory, but if you plugged a usb device in it, its got to be one of those in my opinion.

On the off chance there might be damage to the front usb port, I'd mabey pull the header connectors off the mobo. Just a thought.

Heres what I can tell you. I tried pulling the usb connectors, I tried disconnecting the hdd, I tried different ram. The only thing I can think of is that it could be mobo or psu. I dont have a spare psu, and I don't want to replace the mobo unless I'm sure it will fix it. I also tried to reset the CMOS in a few different ways. That did nothing.

If you're not getting a POST beep, it's either the PSU or the mobo. I'd try and see if you can borrow someone's PSU for a bit. However, with the fact that the CPU fan spins... it's probably the mobo.

Yeah, I'm convinced that it's the Mobo. I just have to find the time to replace it.
