well I just went to pick up a 3.2 G processor for my 478 socket board (reluctant to spend 500 bones for a MB and CPU and RAM upgrade) only to find out that the 3.2 g 478 cpus run at 800MHZ and Mines a 533, SO it wont run only burn out. So Im screwed for playing it until I buy my house, which isnt as soon as I would like, SOOO after waiting pactiently for 5 years for a new TC title to hold my intrest, I find myself screwed again by PC parts manufacturers that wont make truley upgradable parts. Soo I ask you this, WILL the 478 socket 3.2 Celeron D 533 be enough for me to play GRAW, in combo with 1 Gig of DDR 400, and a 6600GT OC?

To add, if anyone has a  533MHZ chip thats up there thats looking to sell or trade for some stuff, please   reply.

I highly doubt you'll be able to use that Celeron D for GRAW...I am in the same predicament...you'll have to use the specificed specs...P4 or AMD Equivelant.

If you need a part, send me a PM and I'll find it for you Smiley

the highest 478 533mhz bus Pentium CPU runs at 3.06ghz. it's discontinued, but there are still places to get it.

i would just spend the money for AMD.

now i know what your going to say... but i still have an old ass amd chip and its still chugging.  if you spend the cash for amd64 chip then your looking for years of good gameplay.

with no money i know how it is tho.  im working just to pay off all my bad habits Tongue to many computer parts on credit.

dude, if I had the cash to spend I prob would. Point is I have a wife, she wants a house, which means I have no money.  SO its as cheap as I can go until I get that house for her.

Talon incase you didn't see this in the staff thread

Talon- I'm using a AMD 2800+(1.87 ghz)1.5 gigs ddr 400 (no dual channel) and the same vidcard as you. I'm easily getting 20-30 frames. textures on low as well as some others, but some others things are on medium, and the resolution is 1280 x 1024. I'm sure you've checked, but I was having really low frames untill i got the latest drivers off the nvidia website. I also set everything in the nvidia control panel to performance, and AA and AF off.

I think with double the CPU, but with a bit less ram you should be fine, plus my FSB is only 400. You'll probably have to settle for low textures and bumping up other stuff, otherwise try to put textures on medium and lower the rez, perhaps some tweaks, cause I haven't done any. And you have a serial ATA hard drive right?
