gotta get to class, but I'll get back to you later today. Do you have a link where you're planning on purchasing it from?

the 6600GT 256MB is certainly a good card, however, I think I would buy a 6800 128MB instead. The 6800 128 performs a little better (clock speeds are more important than memory) and can usually be found for a little cheaper. In fact, I just got one for myself a few weeks ago. Check this one out:

they can usually be unlocked to 16 pipelines too on the 6800 AGP versions... or you can get an X850 Pro AGP and unlock it to a X850XT PE. that'd be a tad bit more money though.

It means that the card needs an extra 4-pin molex power plug (the same power plug that you plug into your CD drives). The power from the AGP slot is insufficient. You just have to make one extra connection.

Not the EIDE/SCISI connections, it uses the Molex connection which comes straight from your power supply, just look for all the Red Yellow Orange and Black cable tided up coming from your power supply. The same ones that go into your CD-Rom drive and Hard Drive is what it needs, unless you added more periphials onto your machine that used these you should have a few extra.

I have owned an MSN nVidia 6600GT... PURE CRAP.

Everyone I have ever talked to that has owned one has given me exactly the same horror story that I had.

When playing games, you'd get massive white lines all over everything, the sky, water ripples, people were pin striped with white.

I have an ASUS N6600GT that functions great (although, it had some weird freaking problems  when I first got it... instead of stripes, everything was checkered... but a fresh install of windows seemed to cure that problem).

Cough up the extra dough and get a 6800 by all means.
