Found this info at the . It seems the AGEIA site as a side by side comparison of their AGEIA PhysX powered vs. a non AGEIA PhysX. The difference is amazing. Check it out .

also ATi and Nvidia have announced their own physics cards, or more to the point just using your existing cards as PPU's.

In an SLI rig you can have one card dedicated as a PPU.

the agea card shouldnt cost alot, BUT they know they can make HUGE markup and make alot so thats what they are going to do. it was said publicly - i dont have a link tho.

agea is not a bad card but ati and nvidia can do better PLUS provide grfx support and not just be an addon pci (or pci-e) card.

cards are not going on sale until later this year, mabe november, mabe alittle before if were lucky.

asus i belive is going to be manufacturing some, and so will alot of other's, but that ones official.  alienware and dell will also have one of these in some machines - confirmed but no link available.

this technology is great but is agea the way to go?  it helps, but is it worth the money they are going to sell it for?

there will also be differnt versions of the agea board, i know two are certain, but mabe a 3rd also.

i had pictures that i took of the card itself, but i never found my scaner to upload them Sad and i belive some engeinering sample pictures are on the web already.

more info...
Alienware and Falcon Northwest both have immediate availability for Ageia PhysX boards. Pricing is $299 from Falcon Northwest for a BFG PhysX board, and $279 from Alienware for an unknown brand.

One thing is delightfully clear....

Gamers are benefitting greatly that there are several graphics powerhouses competing against each other to be king of the graphics processors.

It means we constantly get new and improving technology to make gaming that much better. And it seems to happen rapidly, whereas other aspects tend to stagnate.

Go ATI. Go Nvidia. I don't care who wins, just give me cool eye candy.  :yup:

yes, true.  but is the 250$ worth it?   yes its cool its comming out and prices will reduce and games will become better to look at.

i just hope that even tho all the advances in games go more towards something other than the way it looks.  we have games that are not as fun as they once were, and alot of that time spent on these projects is in the grfx... well, i can care less if it has nice grfx... IF it plays nice and has less bugs, and performs good on the net, then give me that vs grfx.  of course they need newer grfx but there has got to be some sort of line, and THATS where they get us, because we dont think about that and buy into things that are pritty and shiny.

at least this helps provide a step they can provide with minimal effort in a game (if they were to do this on their own, we would surely see a game with lots of bugs and less time spent eleswhere).

edit: one more link of info added http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/ati_physics/

OK, those videos were totally different. Is UBI going to make 2 different versions or animations for each destructible? I doubt it. I'm skepticle that any video card can "simulate" an explosion like that without some vector and volumetric info to go on, and pre-rendered content is still the norm for today's games.

it may have two code paths... what it seems is happening is...

any card with shader model3 is going to use this new technology.

any card without it, will use the old standards.

they do this all the time, but your right, we are talking about ubisoft here.

LaserDKA, MO- that has nothing to do with shader 3.0, it's just a physics function. The first example is what will happen on computers without the physics card, the second one, is the explosion animation with the card. I'm guessing that the debris just disappears, otherwise it wouldn't be able to work properly multi, since both people would be able to see the same thing.

sithdemon.... it chooses the path dependent on sm3 or not... because cards without sm3 cant provide those advanced physics.  the advanced physics if used with ageia grfx..... doesnt matter about sm3, it will just do it the advanced way using that codebase.
