New Gamer lots of questions

Hey all,

I just got into online pc gaming. Don't know alot about it. Got a DELL XPS 400 and GRAW. I have a problem when trying to enter some servers. I get a " Unable to Join, Incorrect Version, (grpcrcl.30) message. Does this mean i don't have the right patch or map pack? Anyone know what i'm doing wrong. I did the big patch download and the mappack3 download. Does the big download (I think it's 2.30?) include all the smaller size downloads? How do i become a bigtime gamer? The stuff i see guys talking about i don't even come close to understanding. How does Ventrilo work? I downloaded it and don't know what to put into it so i can use the mike on my headset. Ok, enough for now. Will ask more later.

First thing first mate you need to download the latest patch that has only been out a few days..

Just install it and it will include all the old patches aswell..

You become a "big time gamer" only with years of practice or by useing cheats (i`d prefer the first option) Just keep playing and be nice to people you meet and they will teach you ... Believe me it does take years to become realy good and instinctive but it will come. Go to the same servers all the time and get to know people and you will soon have a fist full of online freinds.

Ventrillo is a voice coms programme.. google ventrillo and download the client side version..it is free and then you can join voice comms on clan servers..You might also want to get teamspeak2 which is a similar comms programme that other team will use..

The main thing about online gameing is...be polite and be cool...online gaming is VERY hard at first but if you are polite you WILL find people who are willing to teach you a few tricks..
