Hello all, something I've not been able to find as an answer to this question: Is it possible to port the maps from GRAW2 from the Xbox version over into the PC version? And has it been done, if yes then where can I find the result?

If perchance I have been utterly blind with dense foggyness and cute cuddly bunnies distracting me, please be kind  grin

Hop...

I don't think you can import them.  They are completely different engines
running the games so I think the map formats are also probably completely
different.

If you had the source art, you might be able to move them over.  But I doubt
anyone could get to that and even try it. (different studios and all that)

We did it for the game on a few maps. It requires quit a lot of work. First, you need the original Max files and need to redo part of the map as the PC version runs on a true physics engine and does not rely on walk mesh and such. So there are some issues with the design that needs to be fixed. Then the textures has to be remade as the PC version uses normal map on everything and the console version doesn't, so it looks like crap on PC. Then the UVmapping has to be remade and texture blending needs to be applied, as well as new lightmap UV setup and baking. New physics setup for ground. All props, which are built into the map on consoles, need to be extracted and setup for the PC engine kind of like the map itself, but without lightmaps.

For an experienced artist that know the engine, work flow and is good at modeling and texturing, I would say would take 1-1½ month to convert a map if all source files are provided.

Trying to build a replica from screen shot... multiply that by 5 at least.
