Today's conference call also brought news that one of the most-delayed PC games on THQ's roster, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, won't be arriving until the second half of THQ's 2007 fiscal year--October 2006 at the earliest.

Hhhmmm...what a coincidence. How much you want to bet they got a look at F.E.A.R., and realized if they don't want to look like a dated game they better redo the thing.

2007? That's quite a delay. More like a do-over.

My bet is they are sitting on game of the year but due to technical and QA issuses the small dev company thats making it needs more time.  A Game that big really needs a dev team that big, if its only a team of 30 then Id say they need more time.

Only thing is that F.E.A.R., although visually stimulating, doesn't have the freedom STALKER is/was/will/may never have. STALKER was going to be an FPS set in an enviroment like Morrowind where you can go anywhere whenever you want (within reason).

Then add on the day/night cycles and it already has a lot over FEAR. But, FEAR is out and this is not (and won't be for awhile). Like I said in the other thread, by 2006 it'll be last year's garbage.

not unless they keep up with the technology ala HL2. i guess perfection takes time. but i don't want a half-assed game after i've been expecting perfection.

True. But I don't see a 12 man dev team being able to upgrade with the time and make everything else for the game.
