Kimi over at 1UP.com has decided to bless those with fresh screenshots of Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Lockdown.

Here's what she had to say on her blog

More observations after actually getting to play:

    * Red dot scope is badass. The new hotness.

    * Motion sensor makes a cool "blippity bloop" noise when you activate it. Since it's a togglable option, you dont waste part of your kit loadout on an HBS...everyone has one. This also means, though, that there is nothing to counteract the motion sensor like the jammer. We'll see how that plays out for MP...haven't gotten the chance to play MP yet.

    * The maps look nice. Pics to come.

    * Different scope options. For FPWV: If you don't choose a scope you get iron sights. If you choose a normal scope you get the normal scope view when zoomed. If you choose a red dot scope you get a normal scope view but rather than a crosshair you get a red dot. Red dot seems badass in its accuracy. If you don't have weapon view, the red dot scoped is simply that, a tiny red dot. Still very accurate even though it doesn't seem to zoom in.

    * Lean is slower than Rvs. No running and leaning. No leaning and strafing. Not even leaning and adjusting your movement by two inches. You lean, you don't move.

    * Character detail is greatly improved. I'll have to dig up an Rvs screenshot to compare.

    * Grenade launcher! Haha so much fun! You guys may not like it...I went through the entire first part of a level shooting grenades at lone tangos. Tongue

To sum up my feelings after playing today: Lockdown is good stuff so far, and it can only get better with the optimization they must be doing as we speak. Smiley Looking hopeful!

ahhh ha, I saw another pic where some one was wearing a helmet, and this dude has a mask, so I guess the no helmet thing is optional or something.

the no leaning and anything else thing is fine by me, thats how it is in AAO, and it works out.

i think there should be HBS jammers, but thats just me.

hopes this game isn't total shite.

You can't lean and move in SWAT 4 either. Sounds fine to me. I'm actually looking forward to this game. I don't consider it a true R6 title, but that doesn't mean I can't still enjoy it.

A year ago I wouldn't have even wanted to look at this game. But I've come to terms knowing I'll never again see a R6 or even GR title to meet my expectations of a tactical shooter. So I'm just going to take the game(s) for what it's worth and try to be happy.

that's so true and the best thing to do. I also buried the holy name a while ago cause there won't be a R6 or GR ever again.

But it's sad they're still using the R6 title because it opens old scars. It may sound silly but if you want to "get over it" it's easier if they don't release (different) games under the holy title of Rainbow Six.

I liked leaning and moving in RvS. I enjoyed running while scoped also. losing these degrees of freedom sounds bad.

i will do whats in my power to ruin sales and make everyone help too. ubisoft needs to learn a lesson, and if they dont like it, then they should make a game worthy and stop futsing.  everyone shouldnt conform.  they can do what they want... but i have something to say about it.  and so do you guys. let it be heard.  making money is not what the buisness should be, making games that we want because we are paying the money for them is what should be done.  we have every right to make these remarks and let it be heard...

they can listen or not, but if they dont then lets make it count for everything its worth.  if you have nothing to do but bash my words, then so be it, but thats just lousy.

i have no doubt this game will be better than rvs, thats for sure, but its not rainwbow six and thats where the mistakes begin.

*sigh*

Here we go again.

Quote from: MindlessOath
making money is not what the buisness should be, making games that we want because we are paying the money for them is what should be done.

The reason Ubisoft has redesigned the R6 and GR titles the way they have is because most of those that are paying for the game(s) want it that way. You say the business shouldn't be about making money (which, by an economical stand point, is absurdly false), it should be about pleasing those who are paying for the product.

It just so happens the way you want the game to be designed puts you in the minority of how most people want the game to be designed. So the way Ubi has redesigned the game actually falls into your logic of how things should be done. It just doesn't work out in your favour.

People do marketing for Ubi, they also look at current and past sales and the numbers tell them that dumbing down the game not only nets them more money (which anyone with half a brain would jump at), but it pleases more people.

So carrying on this crusade is actually going against everything you stand for. I find that quite ironic and amusing.

Was RvS a true R6 title? No. Will Lockdown be a true R6 title? No. But the people at Ubi have bills to pay and families to raise. I don't think they should be condemmed to salary cuts and job cuts because you want a game developed in a different way.

I know what you're going to say, "If they changed the name of the game then it won't matter.". I have news for you, even if they change the name, it won't be any more tactical, so why does that matter? Why should semantics be at the root your rage? They also won't hire an entirely different dev team to make R6 titles the way they used to be made and have yet another dev team to make a shooter that more people want. That's fiscally irresponsible since it's just a waste of money.

I know no amount of discussion will shed any light on the reality of the subject to you, but all I can hope to do is persuade others to not be the bigger fool who follows the fool.

EDIT---

I also forgot to add that holding a grudge against the company for creating a game differently then the way you want it doesn't fit with your "they should make games we want to play because we're paying for them" statement. You haven't paid for Lockdown yet, therefore they have no obligation to please someone who hasn't given them anything.

Ubi's (and every other companies) loyalty is with it's shareholders. Those who fund their operations, and the only way to please shareholders is to make them money. You have to spend money to make money, and that money can't always come from sales alone. Without funding from shareholders you won't get any game, let alone a game you're displeased with. If you buy one share and can mustar up enough other people with shares that equate to the bulk of Ubi's stocks, your opinions will be heard and the game will take your shape. However, when your money is on the line I have a feeling you'd be singing a different tune.

Purchasing a game you don't want is no excuse for receiving a product you know full well you won't enjoy. It's not Ubi's fault you buy games under the false hope that it will meet your expectations.

If you want to start a crusade on their mod support (or lack thereof), I'll gladly let you rant away. But to scorn a company for trying to make money and please the majority is selfish and ignorant.
