At the recent E3 2006 where some of the most anticipated games debuted, one in particular caught my attention when I got a hold of a video that gave more in depth Intel on the new game mode it will bring to the table.

The game I am referring to is Battlefield 2142 and I know most gamers alike have heard of it before but in this video, it's explained the many new features that will not only enforce team play but will count on it to win. But don't take my opinion on it, check out the video and it's mirrors here or here

Here is what we know so far about the classes for Battlefield 2142:

Recon:
    * It will contain a Sniper & Special Operations Sub-Class.
    * They will have the ability to cloak. But a shadow still will be casted around them.
    * Will be carrying EMP Grenades.
    * Can deploy a Tracking Bug. Which will alert teammates of targets.

Assault:
    * Secondary fire are grenades that explode upon impact of target, or become proximity mines if shot at ground.

Support:
    * Will contain Engineer & Medic Sub-Classes.
    * Can create a hovering drone that automatically targets and fires at enemy troops, but hovers above you giving away position, automatically destructs when owner is killed.

Anti-Tank:
    * May include Anit-Air Sub-Class.
    * May launch rockets at tracking bug recon sets.

Yeah that was a great video, I really like that the repesentative was just talking and talking. The only thing he didn't answer is wether or not artilery was in the game or not.

The unlock system looks pretty intesting to. Though I'm not a fan of it, I like that there are so many to chose from, I heard 150 unlockable items, for something like 40 total "classes", and there are those squad leader specific items included in that. and that you should get your first one after half an hour, and be able to unlock it, right in the game.

The only news I didn't like hearing is that titan mode is capped at 32 players at the moment. Probably to avoid the massive lag from stages like Iron gator, but they've said they are working on making it a little higher before release. Though conquest mode will still have 64.

All in all this video has almost sold me on the game. There's also a decent quake wars gameplay video from E3 out there, but it's only 6 mins, and theres much less info given. This video was the next best things to actually playing 2142.

There are quite a few videos over @ http://www.totalquakewars.com/

I have been waiting much less counting the days for ET: Quake Wars as well. These two games have me sold because of the roles you play in them and the tactics at your disposal.

I think atleast one of those two will make me forget about tribes and planet side. BF2 has come close, but it's things like titan mode that compare to the various sheild and genterator systems for bases in those old games. Partially because it only makes sense in a futuristic setting. But thats another thing, with some reality out the window theres the chance to make and balance things, that have nothing to do with reality. Mechs and hover craft being one of those, but the thigns like drones, or using corpses as spawn points, only make sense in a non-realistic setting.
