I'm not even sure how many people still play this game, but I'm going to make this thread anyways.

When I first started playing the game I just wanted to play it. I didn't focus too much on what I wanted changed. But as I play I get fed up with some of the stuff they changed and how much the game lacks in terms of Morrowind. So when I come across a nice add-on, I'll be posting it in here. Others are welcome to as well.

---

Dark UI:

This gets rid of that terrible console-feel UI and replaces it with a darker, Morrowind-ish UI. The compass, health/magicka/fatigue bars are MUCH smaller and are a little transparent.

The map of Cyrodiil is given a much larger window, allowing you to see more of the map then you previously could.

The character, inventory and spell book menus use much smaller text as well as bigger windows. You're able to see all major and minor skills now without scrolling, whereas you were previously only able to see about 6 or 7 skills.

This just makes the game easier to look at cause the big clunky UI is no longer there.

I'm quite glad to see this stuff happening, and when it first came out and people were bitching about the UI, I knew this stuff was comming. Yes it's made with consolers in mind, however since the PC version came with a editor, a damn good one, and it's stuff like this and the expanded hotkeys, that allow PCers to get the version they want. It's extra work for the modders, but in the end, it was going to happen, and making a PC specific UI would have added some time to development, which wouldn't have been terrible, but better they work on the editor, and let us, or the better modders around us, make a good UI.

I still have it installed on my pc that cries a little each time I play it. Smiley

I have some UI mods and gameplay mods. My favorite is the leveling mod which changes how you level and also gives npcs/mobs a certain level limit- for instance you won't see any lvl 40 cutpurses. It makes for more balanced gameplay to me as it always annoyed me that no matter how I levelled up my character was no better against the same enemies.

The other thing it does is prevent that cutpurse from running around decked out in glass armor. This makes gear more valuable and challenging to get, which I also liked.

I read about that mod (or one similar) but I wasn't quite sure about how it worked so I never bothered getting it.

I was highly disappointed with the leveled NPC's and the fact that Daedric armor isn't as rare as it was in Morrowind. It was so rare in Morrowind that you had to kill Divayth Fyr. The only NPC in the game with a full suit (minus the helm) and to the best of my knowledge the only person in the game with the cuirass and boots.

At my house on the waterfront I have 45 sets of Daedric armor, hardly rare in Oblivion.

Toss me the link to that mod if you remember where you got it, I'll see what it's all about.

I've heard of OOO, but I never bothered to read much about it. I may have to download it and start a new character. I could just install it now and play with my current character, but the game would be more fun from scratch and more of a challenge.

I'll have to check it out.
