Like Puzzles? Like RPG's? Thought they could never go together?

...they do, and very well, apparently. Puzzle Quest is one of XBLA's newest additions. It's a port of the DS (or PSP, or whatever) game, and it's pretty damn good, actually. It's not a full game like Halo or Half Life or Oblivion, but it's a really fun relaxing game. The premise is a straight-forward old-school RPG like Dragon Quest. You pick a class, pick some abilities and off you go. There's treasure, magic, magic weapons and equipment, and all of them affect the core of the game: the puzzle.

Match 3 up of any color/type and you get that mana, or do damage to your opponent. With enough mana you can cast spells and abilities like entangle, forest fire, lightning and the like.

It's actually a pretty decently deep game and well worth the 1250 MS points, especially if you can find a good deal on a couple cards.

In fact... I think I'm going to go play. Cheesy

1250 is way too much MS points for my blood.. and even if it wasn't... I only have 800 points left.

Actually it might be 1200. Anyway, I thought the same thing till I tried the demo. I had picked up two 1600 point cards for $20 awhile back so I didn't mind spending it on this.

The demo actually gives you a really good idea of the game as you can play up to level 7 in any class (but can't save).

It's originally for the DS. Makes use of the pen function.

Quite a good game because of it's originality.

That's basically what it is, Mike. The rpg twist makes it a lot of fun. Adds a nice depth to it.

Again, this isn't a super deep game, but it's very entertaining. If you get the chance to pick it up on DS or something I highly recommend it.
