Playing old GR Again

Someone dropped a copy of the Island Thunder addon last new year's eve on my desk, and since I never played it (yes I never did--I had DS, but never IT), I gave old GR a spin again. It's funny to think that I never fully enjoyed this game before, when I was all-too preoccupied with trying to mod it LOL.

So how are you fellas? I see Mono and Jeckyll are still here...what about BB et al? Anyways just saying hi and happy new year to all!

Hey hey! Haha hi guys! Man BB, long time no see...hehe I also just reinstalled your old G8SF mod last night hehehehe very nostalgic, almost brings tears to my eyes hehehe.

Yeah will try to visit more often. BTW I did manage to contact Mike Schell about 6 months ago--he's out somewhere climbing mountains LOL...but I seem to have lost contact with him again...oh well...hehe.

BTW don't forget to install COVERT OPS first before you install Naughty Nurses--it uses the hospital maps in CO.

I'd love to play it but i can't find the FU**ing first disc. I have Island thunder and jungle strike. But i can play them without the first disc. Maybe i'll pass by a used games bin, but not recenlty

Oh yea!! Got Ghost Recon Installed. It plays at 2560x1600 .Looks fun! Text is all wierd, but fun fun! Maybe i'll play a little multi sometime.

Hey guys,

I'm new here.  I've been playing GR for quite some time now, and would now like to learn to make new maps.  I've made a few weapons for GR, but I'd like a real nice tutorial on making new maps.  I have done extensive searching but I can only find 2 links.  The first is a basic tutorial by =Sealz=Papa6, but this tut just tells how to make a ground - not buildings, etc.  The one that really looked like what I wanted is a dead link that points to somewhere on this site (http://www.theplatoon.com/tutorials/map_tutorial_1.asp).  If any of you could direct me to a really good tutorial, I would greatly appreciate it.

Hmm, good idea to install Ghost Recon again

You know i never played any mods (didn't had internet in that time). What do you guys recommend cause i played thru all the expensansions quite a few times now and i would like to see some new missions and weapons.

* This mod may not be available for download anymore due to the RCMP asking BajaBravo to take the mod down. Out of respect BjB did so. With BjB's permission, I can send it to you somehow since it is a stellar mod. Should not be missed.

** Frostbite and Swedish Special Forces have a combo mod, allowing you to play both mods with full compatibility. Frostbite was created by EL OSO and Swedish Special Forces was created by Wolfsong. These are both must play mods.

The rest if them are extremely great mods. Sabre Teams is one of my personal favs (and is another BjB creation).

so these mods allow to play with new chars in single player? or just multi?

I'll be honest, I'm not 100% sure. I only really ever played multiplayer, but I know Dangerous Babes and Gangland (made my MONO) have single player changes cause MONO is a SP man.

Frostbite and Swedish Special Forces have SP changes aswell. Frostbite is a total conversion, so it's got more weapons, maps and all that jazz.

Canadian Ops (or anything BjB created such as G8 and Sabre Teams) also has SP changes aswell I believe.

The rest I believe are just weapon mods, but I could be wrong.

Nice to see some sign of life from the old days, Rodion.

I remember that the missions were hard for Ghost Recon. I needed for the Rifleman a silenced assault rifle with a scope to do the campaign, so I made a minimod for the game adding a Diemaco C7 "special forces weapon"
