with ubi's track record i could see vegas (counsel version) as looking good. but bug filled and lag filled. unbalanced and not supported. plus the shareholders require what they want so we wont see anything of the likes of what we want to see (to some degree this has changed im assuming, but with the way it all works, thats not going to work for long - ubi doesnt even know how to communicate).
is r6:5 going to use unreal3 engine? if so, will they provide an SDK finaly? i doubt it. we can make maps and thats about it im sure.
the only way to go about it is like talon suggests, or mabe a compainy with a big budget buy the tom clancy names, but provide good games, support etc.
alot of the major problems with ubi is they dont care... its like this, ravenshield would have been good if ubi supported it. lockdown could be good too, but they messed that up because the userbase doesnt like the gameplay, and due to that, their is also no support. plus vegas is on the way, no matter how popular that game is, its going to have little to no support. thats ubi's problem area. mabe because they dont give a rats ass to bugs and coding... just getting out fast as possible and then f the fans who want the support. most are attiquit with laggy situations if it plays well other than that... they dont complain or they move on, but ubi should just fix the situation. thats not going to happen.

you gotta realise what Lockdown is meant to be .... its a holdover and nublet introduction to the series , you arent seeing the big picture .
R6 : Vegas is the next installment of R6 , of course skipping the LD BS since youre a r6 folllower from the begining , and obviously see its a different type of game .
my opinion is , with GRAW and SC : DA coming , you really think theyre gonna release a shit game again ? i seriously doubt it , since revenue returns arent what they could have been for lockdown if it had been a high-quality game .
so in conclusion , most of you ppl need to quit the pissin and moanin bout poor games , " oooh , im so sad , they made a poor game and apparently i have nothin better to do than make numerous threads about how it should change " , when if you did a bit of research it would be slappin you in the face that ubi wants to continue in being a leader ( read : splinter cell series , prince of persia ) in the game development industry .
i've learned a few things from the french , and what i know is : you may think theyre assholes but humans are all the same, of course depending on their nature/nurture development , and of couse class ( not economic class , but a reasonable and responsible nature about them ) . and that theyre not dickwads who will stand up fighting for somethin they dont beleieve in . LD is dead , and much to the surprise of many here , R6:3 is still alive and well , just go play a game and tell me it aint still fun ; unless of course youve been addicted to the unreal 3 and crysis tech demo videos and will not settle for less than volumetric everything and a physics engine that requires you to buy a dedicated physics rendering card .
so grow up , and while you big talkers seem like you know what youre talkin about in the biz , also realize what it means to be as famously rich as Ubisoft , and what it will take to continue their success .

Could we use that program "Cubase" or "Darkmatter"? I'm just trying to think of a way to cut costs. I just wanna say that R6L does have some good graphics but that is really it. The only things I am not liking is the deletion of the mission planner, most of the weapons, the linear maps and the 4 man squads. I understand why the maps are linear...it because they are so fricking huge! At the end of the day I would still settle for R63. I mean look at SWAT 3 for example; the graphics sucked but the gameplay was awesome. Hey all if we do this I would like a VOIP feature for MP and SP. The SP Voice Command like on the PS2 title SOCOM.

or instead of putting money into an investment endevour we could focus on Total Retribution. Get a bigger DEV team and just make a MOD that will have all the things we want.
I know TR has been a bit slow and looks non-active but there is alot potential for the MOD. More quality dev team members would significly [sp??] speed up the process i guess.
Look at INS [Insurgency], they have like 30+ dev members working on their mod. Good stuff. And all doing it in their free time. No high costs and you don't have 1000 people with a different opinion.

well thats a good point as well, im sure they could definatly use your modelling skills Ironhead. Their fourms arnt inactive just the part thats active cant be seen by the public. As for me, Id have to read over my contract again, but im fairly sure im not aloud to participate. I have to ask permission to get a part time job :hmm:
This only a discussion anyway, Im sure none of us actually has the time to persue such a large indevour not to mention I dont think a dev studio would risk it.
So Modding would be the way to go. Unfortunatley the modding community(the TC one anyway) is short on actual experainced programmers and animators, modders on their way to that level yes, but experiance saves time. But theirs boat loads of artists and Level designers.
Too bad we couldnt convince some of the talent on the teams of Source mods to join, seems like that game is where the modders are atm.

50 employees X average dev salary 50 000 = 250 000 Engine = Free - 500 000 based on level of current graphic quality and engines available. Software = 150 000 Capital for Owner Gaurentee = 20 000 (bonus inticement)
Preprod = 20 000 (this time is used to produce a proto type for the investors) Other Misc not accounted for = 50 000
Total Rough estimate = 990 000
80 bucks a person= 12,375 investors 100 bucks a person= 9900 investors and so on,
I would just liket to point out that 50x50,000 = 2,500,000. You would need a lot more money for investment

you ever played a title that was made on this engine? Seems a bit too cheap... and the titles that are in the shop list don't ring a bell to me. But ofcourse it really could be an OK thing. Looks like a 'for gamers, by gamers' initiative kind of thing...

Good points from everybody. I would like to invest, but since my fiancee stopped working to take care of the baby full time my salary is our sole income and what little is left over after paying bills and buying groceries we need to save for a house. I would be more than happy to donate a few hours a week of my time, probably on weekends, however. Assuming they want a rusty hack like me working for them

I believe TR is slow because the engine they plan on is for a game that has not been released yet, so thay can only do so much. As soon as the game is released they will launch their site with some goods and announce the engine/game.

I'm not a big proponent of reviving old threads, but since this thread discusses BFS, the change in GR and R6, as well as fiscal issues related to creating a game, I thought you all might be interested in a thread at gr.net. Since I can't post a link here, yet, I will just need to tell you that it is in the "Ideal Shooter" forum and is called "Hints of a Game to come from BFS...."
While there, I would also suggest looking at some of the other threads in that same forum.

Thanks, BajaBravo. I knew one of you guys would come through for me. I hope you all either join in the discussion there until BFS has their forums up and going or discuss the game here.
