It took entirely too long to port to the pc and as a result was well behind games of the time.
This may be what you meant but the actual port of the game didn't take long at all. What took so long was Microsoft trying to milk their "flagship" title to sell XBoxes so that would drive the sale of more XBox games. Were it not for that priority, it could have shown up on the PC within about 2 months.
If that's what you meant Aramis, then I'm just agreeing with you.
The whole Halo episode is one thing that really soured me on the whole concept of the XBox and Microsoft screwing their PC gaming customers by making "XBox Exclusives".
Of course, all of the XBox exclusive games do finally show up on the PC. They can't resist the additional sales. But it showed us PC gamers that Microsoft is a whore and doesn't care about dancing with them that brung 'em to the dance. (same as most PC game vendors that have gone console crazy).
Although I have an XBox, I have never bought a _new_ XBox game (eBay is great for cheap games) and even my XBox is second hand.
Maybe Microsoft did us PC gamers a favor with Halo, though. The game is nearly mind numbingly repetitious. Perhaps that's the console influence. Perhaps not. But I have never gone back to replay the whole game (driving the warthogs is fun, though). And I absolutely hated the game after the "flood" started. So maybe it was a good thing it took so long to show up on the PC.
