I generally prefer sniping as a tactic in most games. Of course it totally depends on the game/map etc.

To be quite honest, I love em both.  I love sniping a lot, but I love some close quarters battles also.  I couldn't decide between the two of them, so I just picked both.

I like to hang back snipe like madness.  Then once I run out of sniper ammo or they start getting to close wip out the close quarters weapons and charge (tactically charge that is) into them.  When it works I feel like the man, and when it doesn't I just get pissed off.

Sniping from a mile away for the win!  Anyone can spray and pray at 10 feet away but it takes a steady mouse to head shot a target :1 (14):

Up close and personal for me. I love turning around an alley in BF2 to find a squad, falling back while dodging nades.. then setting up a good ambush spot to nail 'em down with my G3.

NOTA.  Support baby.  Give me that big auto gun and some nades to scatter the opposition and let the folks behind me pick em off :1 (17):

Sniping. I love sitting on a rooftop or on a hill, watch someone think they're about to turn the corner and kill a squad with their G3, and send him back to the spawnpoint.

I do a bit of both, my style usually involes atleast one other person (usually fixxx), where one person stays back standing up to snipe/supress, while the other moves in for the direct kill or the flank, works better in a urban setting but it can totally work in out door games as well.
