well... here is your chance to get the killer nic for cheaper.
for those of you who dont know about the killerNIC, its basically a gaming network card that makes your ping look better, and free's up some FPS because it has its own processor, and doesnt have to stress your main CPU.

the advantage of having a killerNIC is great tho, cause it has soooo many options, like downloading files while your computer is off - onto a usb key from a torrent. various other things can be coded yourself for use on this nic.

goto www.hardocp.com for a review of this nic, or
http://www.hothardware.com//viewarticle.aspx?articleid=882
for a direct link to one.

but for that amount of money ie 250$ dollers, thats alot of dough, well introducing the new K1
http://www.hothardware.com/news.aspx?#news3503
noted here for about 150$ which is substataly slimmer in cost.  it runs with a slower DAC which runs at 333mhz instead of the 400mhz the first model was reelased with. it also disabled using the fnapps UNLESS you purchase a firmware upgrade, and if that is done - it will work mainly like the first product (the m1) but the fnAPPs will run slower due to the slower DAC processor.

for that amount of money im in for this kind of thing, i know it doesnt offer much for 250$ at all, but if i were to buy an alienware/dell/hp with one already installed, i would do that only... for a build it yourselfer, paying more than 50$ for a nic is outragous.

i myself have bought good nic's tho, usually server nics with there own processors (tho they are not enhanced for udp throughput - like the killerNIC is).

anyways, thought this might be great news for ya guys because of the gaming heritige here and the cheaper price of this unit. i expect it to be out sometime in march, but i havent the slitest clue any exact dates.

Yeah I read about it through Hardocp. There's a reason everyone makes fun of it. It's way overpriced and a joke unless you're bleeding money. Even at $150 I would never even consider this for my rig.
