Anybody still actually play this? Im getting back into online gaming slowly but while im upgrading my machine to play BF2 i want to subsidise it with another. AA is free, Great! but is it still popular?

Free is attractive in itself. IIR there were a good # of players listed on gamespy so if anything it may be worth the DL to see.

i never got past training. the part where you flash the room and shoot the dummies...i could never move on. the door never opened and i couldn't figure out how to do anything else.

From what I remember, the AA:O community is still thriving, but most of the people playing it are the type of people who know everything about the military but are too cicken shit to join it. It was a great game but the bulk of the community were snot-nose shitheads that probably couldn't handle the recoil of a rifle.

They just take it too seriously. BF2 isn't as real, but it's a hell of a lot more fun. IMHO of course.
