For Our lucky Friends across the pond, (Everyone BUT, U.S, Canada, Mexico) todays a good day.  The latest Tom Clancy offering has hit Xbox lives marketplace, RainbowSix Vegas.
Due to a exclusivity deal with OXM magazine our North American friends will have to either wait it out a week, or cough up 7 bucks for OXM magazine's december issue which contains the demo.

See you on live.

When you try to create an account from the UK, it checks the postal code (zip code).

It has to be correct or it kicks it back.

For the non UKers...enter SWA10AA for the postal code.

It doesn't matter what city name you put. This postal code is actually the House of Commons, but it worked for me.

My demo is downloading now.

They have tightened alot of the gameplay up since I worked on it last, flow is nice and fast or slow depending on your playstyle.  Ive seen most of it due to having been the original LD on this map but its changed a bit since then.  Very happy thus far, PC fans are in for a real good R6 game as well as console people.  The controls are nice and smooth, aiming is a hellva lot easier than 3 with the controller, all and all as Borat would say "thats nicee".
Love to heard what you think Mono.

Okay so;

I like it.

But, I'm not sure how much that really helps in the big picture of R6 evolution.

I can't compare it to previous Xbox versions, because this is my first console version. I can't compare it to my previous PC game experience, because the console obviously has a whole different feel from a PC game.

So, just looking at this all on it's own merits, I like it. I'll be buying.

Graphics are great, Interface is non-obtrusive; control scheme is good. Squad control is wonderfully simple, yet fully effective.

Team character animations look real good and smooth (human like).

Lot's of cool gameplay features, like the window rappelling and intrusion, ala Splinter Cell.

This game seems to combine a lot of cool elements from previous R6, GRAW, and Splinter Cell.

I like it. The Xbox360 has brought me back to shooters, so this is perfect timing. On it's own, without worrying about comparing it to other R6 titles, I say it's a great game.

After only a few minutes with one run through of the demo....I'd still really love to have a pre-planning map; not sure if there is one. Also, I'm looking forward to seeing how the AI handles door breaches, if properly without getting killed, which was always a problem in previous R6 games.

Seems like SWAT was one of the few games to make door breaches not be instant death to your AI team. Hopefully the 360 Vegas has a good handle on it as well.

This looks like a winner so far.

*Next Day*

So I just played another round. Still only played half way through (haven't gotten to the hostage yet), but I like it even more today.

I wish I could say whether or not it's because it's so improved, or I simply like the console better, but I just had an extremely satisfying playing experience.

Now more familiar with the controls, I think what I just played is awesome. The AI is definately great. And the 'cover' gameplay works extremely well. I love the switch to 3rd person view when taking cover; and with the combination of of good thermal vision and good fire while peeking, along with some smart AI teammates, I just flanked and kicked some serious butt.

In previous R6 games I'm usually toast pretty fast. This seems to be much better balanced, in order to provide an enjoyable experience.

The tangos are throwing smoke grenades and using cover extremely well. Yet it wasn't so difficult to overcome to make playing frustrating.

I'll be playing this demo alot until the full release. And I'll be in the store the morning it comes out. Feels kinda good to be back into some R6 again.

I'm still wondering about the PC version though; if it will be as good as the console version. But I don't care. I'm an Xbox guy now.

No more card and driver glitches to worry about. Thumbs up 2

Am I the only one playing this or what?

Oh, I got to the door breaching. Excellent stuff.  Sent my two AI teammates to line up at door #1 and wait. I went to door #2, used the snake cam, tagged the targeting priority, and in we went from two directions. Bang, bang, bang. My team AI did beautiful.

All tangos down. Team AI all alive.

The only good guy shot down was me.  LOL.

Important question: Can you jump between characters again? That was one of the (many) huge flaws I saw in Lockdown.

If there is one thing I like about the 360 and other consoles is that you never have to check the system req's. Everything will run perfect. Only trouble I have had since owning the 360 for about a month was when I bought SC: DA :sc:. I got through the first few missions (very good game, 10 times better than the previous like usual) and then I get a dirty disc error. Of coarse the disc is cleaner than jesus's sin record, but it just will not load the next mission. It would be the first mission Sam has as a terrorist, and I was looking foreward, but looks like I will have to wait until I am not too pissed and REbuy it. Other than that, no problems.

I got a chance to play Vegas yesterday, and I must say that I am very pleased. Graphics are top notch, there is a cover mode that you can enter while near a piece of cover that puts you into 3rd person and you can peek out or just blindfire. The AI is much improved. And your team actually uses cover and fires like they are supposed to. I also like the fact that you can (finally) pick up enemy weapons.

I'm still surprised there's not a lot of chatter about this here.

I thought there'd be more interest in this. Everybody still scared over the Lockdown piece of junk?

Vegas on the Xbox is excellent.

I don't like the idea that you can use 3rd person view to gain an advantage (if even only against AI). The only reason I don't mind it in the Splinter Cell series is because I have pretty much no choice. But in the R6 series, I liked it the intensity of some of the situations could get.

Removing the danger of having to expose even a tiny portion of yourself to see where your enemies are located takes some of the fun out of it. Granted, from what I gather you don't have to use it, but it still cheapens the gameplay.

All IMO of course.

I might try this game out when it hits the PC, but I'm not all that optimistic. After playing SWAT the R6 series has appealed to me less and less as it grows farther and farther away from a tactical experience.

I understand what you're saying but it's implemented very well in Vegas.Peeking from cover doesn't immunize you from getting shot. It's more of an "up-he-sees-me-down" kind of thing, which is fairly realistic.

Although it's heavily scripted, I tried found it to be satisfying tactically. I tried a few different approaches. Run and gun got me killed pretty quickly. Sniping from a good position while I sent my team forward (or leaving my team in a good sniping position while I moved forward) worked very well in environments that had those kinds of positions, yet wasn't fool-proof. The game-play dynamic of moving from cover-to-cover supported by your team (and vice versa) was pretty cool. You have to think about where to go and where to put your team.

I'll always miss the strategic aspect of R6/RS preplanning and the wide open approaches of GR and GRAW, but from what I've seen so far, Vegas is awesome.
