Well this sadens me greatly. However I hope this just means that when it does come out, that it'll be as stellar as previous ones. I know around here this will mean alot of us will be looking at other shooters with more interest, cause I don't think theres any stealth games comming out.

A 6 month delay is big, if it was any other game, I'd say they'd need to release a demo to keep people interested, however theres nothing like this game, so we'll all just need to play chaos theory a little longer.

If they were delaying the PC version in order to perfect it, I'm good.

If they're delaying my game because they simply want to release it at the same time as the console versions, I'm annoyed.

all the versions are comming out at once, so the release date for all of them was marchish, slightly staggered. Now all the major versions for sure, perhaps even the PSP version have been delayed all at once. The delay seems to have nothing to do with any favoritism. And this isn't a small task, each version has it's own team, so they all just got 6 more months of some kinna work.

"Originally slated for release this spring (March 2006 was the unofficial window), Double Agent will now come out this September, allowing Ubisoft to release the game on all platforms simultaneously, including the Xbox 360 version"

Am I reading it wrong? This implies that now they can all come out together, because of the delay.

well I know before, they were comming out around the end of march, some had set release dates for around that time, some still just had quarter 1 2006. I guess now they can come out on the same day perhaps?

I can't agree more. It is better to wait for a polished game than to get a substandard game now and wait even longer for a major patch to correct the problems.

Of course, what sometimes happens is that you wait, still get a substandard game anyway, and the patch to make it playable takes forever or never comes out.

Luckily the Splinter Cell franchise has a good track record. This title looks awesome.

For single player, yes. For multiplayer, not so much.

My only real complaint is their unwillingness to fix major problems in the coop portion of Chaos Theory (the only coop support title thus far).

The stages that were released with the game were broken for about the first two or three months, it took forever for a patch. The new stages that were released in the last patch (which was released back in october), the same problem has plagued the new stages making them unplayable. A fix is no where to be found.

Other then this minor, yet major, problem the series has been fantastic.

I just finished Chaos Theory. By far, my favorite to date. Sam moves so much more fluidly and the addition of something so simple as a knife is huge. You have so many options for infiltration.

My biggest fear on #4 is that they're going to break away from what makes this game so good. We'll see I guess.

another possible reason for the delay is the majority of pc versus players boycotting spy vs. spy only ... everyone there wants spy vs merc as well .

That might be a added concern, however at this point if people are only complaining about that, I doubt they would need to delay it that much just to swap in mercs skins. The games development, and sales (i think) are more about the single player, the co-op and VS modes are add ons, added value.
