this movie looks awesome.  Love the cell shading after effects, just totally adds more to the film.

Rotoscoping is the bomb. Richard Linklater used this in the movie "Waking Life," but this time around it looks alot more vivid.

Rotoscope is basically a technique in which artists sketch and paint over existing frames of film. In this case, everything was shot and then jazzed up by animators. It's actually a pretty inexpensive, albeit very time-consuming, technique.

Do they use something like Illustrator or what? I've seen (and created) some pretty lifelike images using pen-tracing in Illustrator, but I can't imagine doing that for every frame of a 29.95 fps movie. Ouch.

Most movies are shot in 24 fps. They used a program called Rotoshop. Also, interpolation is used to automatically fill in some frames between key frames so not every frame has to be done over by hand.

Still looks like quite a job though. No thanks

I saw this tonight.. it was good! Robert Downey Jr. is my new favorite actor... I started liking him more in Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang.. and Goodnight & Goodluck.. but this role definitely put him up there with the heavyweights. Great performance in a wonderfully refreshing film. Check it out.
